When Madison says there are young guys ready, I hope he didn't mean Howard. But everyone here loves Poole, I think he's good but can Daniels be our #2? Could Poole really be our #1??? I'm a little worried about losing Madison, I know he's expensive but, who do we have on our current roster that could replace him?

Edit: There's no need for that. If you have nothing useful to say, simply don't post an answer.

maybe the pple that we have on the team..its not rocket science

Thanks Mr. Rocket Scientist, but I was actually asking if people though Poole, or Daniels could replace him, and you say...

Maybe the people we have on our team.

Have you noticed how bad Howard is? Poole's been down, and has Travis Daniels really shown that he could cover the guy Sam's assigned to? Not to take anything from Daniels or Poole but they don't have the vet experience.

I'm tryin to bring up a point, and you're talkin about rockets :shakeno:

he mentioned Daniels in the interview/statement... but we've got Poole, Daniels and Mitchell, all of whom are young and talented.

I will get bashed left and right, but Howard has played well as of the winning streak. Witht he only exception being the bogus pass INT call against the Jets late in the game. Not saying he's starting material, but as a nickleback.

Also, everyone loves Poole because he's not played. No one knows how good or bad he is.

Howard has been horrible.

I think Poole and Daniles are very promising. I look for us to get another CB via FA who will give depth and be cheaper than Sam. I hope he stays.

I have high hopes for Poole but who knows what Saban plans to do with him, Madison and Daniels. I just hope we lose Howard. He can tackle, but cant cover for his life.

I'm telling everyone this...Howard is a decent CB when he's playing outside. His problem was that Nick was using him in the slot where he gets burned...Sam, can't play the slot either, it's very hard. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Reggie Howard come back........after restructuring his contract and challenging for a starting CB position. All this hype about Will Poole, and we haven't even really seen much of him in game situations. He looked good last year, and even better (I hear) during offseason drills before he was hurt. But, him and Shirdonya Mitchell are both young, unproven CBs. Reggie Howard played well in Carolina, and played much, much better in the 2nd half. He's not worth his contract, but if it can't be restructured he's worth keeping, with what looks to be and young and inexperienced defensive backfield.

If he'd take less than nickle CB pay, he may be worth it. It would depend on Sam's status as well.

Right now, I would put Howard above Poole in the depth chart. Poole is not proven. Miami will have to see what he can bring to the team in the offseason. Poole will probably play as a backup CB to start the 2006 season. He may develop into a great CB like everyone thinks. But he hasn't proven anything yet.

Madison's departure would be a BIG hit to the secondary. Schulters got the INT today, but it was Madison's coverage that made it happen. Madison has played very well this season. If he leaves, it will leave a big gap in the secondary. Big enough to make Miami's secondary more of a problem next season? Maybe. It will depend on how well Poole plays, and who Miami can pick up in the offseason.

i think he could have been talking about kiwaukee thomas personally.

I'm guessing he meant Poole and Daniels. Poole could be a #1 CB, but is nowhere near a sure thing to be one. Daniels can definitely be a good #2 IMO. He has excellent ball skills and could be a top corner if he had better speed. Mitchell might have the highest upside of any of them, but is also the biggest question mark after his injury. I think Sam is gone, we sign or draft a #1 corner and let the rest fight it out for the next 3 spots.

No matter how average Howard has been playing he is not worth the $25 million dollar contract he is playing under. Poole may be an adequate to good player for us but its taking a chance letting Madison go not knowing what we have to replace him with.
