I have to say Marino was by far the best and Griese the 2nd best but who is the 3rd best QB in the history of Miami Dolphins history.
Strock r Tannehil?

Has to be Earl Morrall.

I have a feeling #17 will be moving up rapidly on that board based on how he's playing this December.

Griese had a great running game equal to none other for the Dolphins so it's really Dan Marino and Ryan T., so Griese is 3rd in my book

Uhm... it is puzzling to me that so many Dolphins fans do not appreciate just how good Bob Griese was. Bob Griese was a huge part of the Dolphins success during the 1970s and is a Hall of Famer. He was pretty damn good.

Tannehill not close. Morrell was on an amazing team an was a game manager

I don't think the younger fan base appreciates Griese. That's what happens over time, unfortunately. For those that never saw him play, understand he was one of the most intellectual QBs of all time - he was a student of the game, a professor on the field who called his own plays and was perhaps the most unselfish signal caller ever. In the SB against the Skins I believe he only threw it 7 times because we were pounding them on the ground. On a Turkey Day game in '77 against the Cards he had 6 TDs and decided to NOT go for the record because the game was out of reach. Imagine the Brady's, Manning's, Bree's of today in that situation? They are throwing for TD number 7 if it's the last play of the game and with a 40 point lead. If the run game was working, he fed it to you until you quit. If the passing game was clicking, he sliced you up through the air. He was athletic early in his career as well. He compares in my book to the likes of Joe Montana in terms of style, smarts and effectiveness. While I believe Marino was the best we've ever had, the argument for Griese that older fans will make is legit. It's a better argument than anyone else compared to anyone else who ever threw the ball for us. Bob Griese is a bonafide Hall of Famer. For me it's Marino, Griese, Morrall - with RT looking to crack the top 3 sometime soon.

Griese was a smart QB no doubt but in today's NFL of throwing the ball first and foremost his arm was just not that good and he would struggle in today's NFL. Take away Conka, Morris and Klick that he had to lean IMO those past Dolphins team loose a few more games and Griese appears much more mortal. That all being said football players played a tougher game back then but I will add Ryan T is tough also.

I respect the opinion but I don't agree - mainly because it is too hard to compare QBs / any players really - across eras. Griese's arm was about the same as Joe Montana's in terms of strength - not rocket-like, but good enough to get the ball down the field. He was no Chad Pennington. Also, keep in mind after he lost Czonk, Kiick and Morris he went on to have probowl seasons - and turned Nat Moore into an All-Pro too. He was great in his day - which is all you can really ask. I think a guy like Marino is just so rare - and we are a bit spoiled from it - in that he could play across 100 years and be relevant.
