If your talking about QB's that spend most of thier career as a back up and never moved on to be the starter I'd say Morrall and Strock but of course I am biased.
Back ups that latter when on to be great I'd have to say Brady, Rodgers and Young.

Steve Young backing up Joe Montana...both ended up in the Hall of Fame.

I'll never forget my first pilgrimage to a Dolphins home game.

Buffalo was handing us our asses all day, then in comes Sage "bring em back alive" Rosenfels to lead us on three TD drives for the EPIC comeback win!!!

As a starter, he sucked ... But as a backup, I'll vote for him. :)

Easiest choice ever. Earl morral took over for two different hall of fame qb's and led both teams to superbowls. He was 15-2 with the colts after Unitas got hurt losing in superbowl to jets and led the undefeated dolphins to 12 straight victories then got replaced by griese in superbowl. He also replaced an injured Unitas in the superbowl win over the cowboys.
