I am curious about this because we have pretty good linebackers i just want to see in your opinion who is the Best (Not including Tearrius George, William Kershaw, or Quentin Moses)

Miami Dolphins Linebackers

Joey Porter
Channing Crowder
Akin Ayodele
Matt Roth
Charlie Anderson
Derek Cameron Wake (I thought his first name was Cameron)
Reggie Torbor

I like Joey slightly more than the rest thats just my vote because of what he brings into the game that fire. He is a leader and motivates everybody. Also had a hell of a year last year.

Porter is good, but he does tend to disappear in games. He had some games last year where he played like an MVP, but there were some other games where I didn't even notice if he was playing or not. Crowder was consistent so I picked him as our best LB.

Gotta go with Joey Porter. I think everyone else is too much of a 'one trick pony'. Roth is great at setting the edge, Crowder good at playing the run and setting up the defense, Akin is solid in coverage, Wake is an athletic pass rusher, Anderson seems to be a one-dimensional pass rusher, and Torbor is a solid backup. None of these players is as well rounded a linebacker as Porter, so I went with JP.

It's obviously Joey, but here's to hopfully next year Wake and whomever we draft at LB making this a very tough decision if asked again.

I can't help but wonder if the end of last year was a case of Joey pulling a disappearing act, or if had to do with other factors. I truly believe that other teams just isolated Porter and forced Miami to have another player step up into a passrushing role. Everyone knew we barely got any passrush from our front four (on passing downs) and that Roth was only effective if he was being blocked by a tightend or running back. Porter may have been tiring out due to age or the constant attention, but he may also have been a nonfactor because non of the other Dolphin players could draw some of the protection schemes away from him. Just a thought:up:

Joey Porter is the biggest one trick pony of the bunch. I like the guy, but all he does is rush the passer. He is a liability in the running game and in pass coverage.

That said he still might be the best LB on the team.

I am sure you are right. I have no doubt teams started double teaming him toward the end of the season.

I think he rushed the passer so much because that was the only way this defense could get pressure on anyone.

Agreed. I know Porter can be a solid to above average coverage linebacker. Anyone remember the INT against the Dolphins opening night when he still played for the Steelers? As a WOLB, Porter does a good job for what his position requires, and it would be a waste of talent to constantly drop him into coverage when he is the most superior passrusher on the team. Nobody else (with the unproven Wake an intriguing possibility) on the team can rush the QB like Joey.

Remember the INT AGAINST the Steelers on MNF in 07? I dont see how this is even a legitimate question. Hmm, a multiple time pro bowler or whats his face, or that one guy that got burned a lot in coverage, or maybe that one guy we signed off of the practice squad. Hmmmm.

If Wake can be a pass rush monster like he was in Canada. I think you'll see him coming in on passing downs and Porter will be dropping back more then he did last year and will probably have more ints.
