I think Wanny is a good x's and o's guy when it comes to defense. I think he is horrificly (is that a word??) stubborn when it comes to offense. I think any good coach adjusts his philosphy to his talent (Parcells, Shula and Belichick off the top of my head) instead of sticking with his philosophy without the proper personnel. I also think Wanny sucks as a personnel guy and a motivator which are imporatnt aspects of coaching. Wanny seems to never play rookies regardless of potential he loves to stick with guys who are familiar with his crappy philosophy (especially on offense). The 2004 Dolphins are a passing team by their personnel (McMichael, Booker, Chambers, Konrad out of the backfield and strong armed Feeley) but Dave wants to run anyways. Wanny does an excellent job of staying up beat and saying the right things to the media though.
JJ on the other hand was a great talent evaluater, good motivator and a good leader in general. He's just not an x's and o's guy at all. He is also stobborn about his philosophy and likes to win with talent. Example being " we are going to run the ball, the defense will know it's coming but still not be able to stop it." Both Wanny and JJ would love to have that situation, like they did have in Dallas. Unfortunately, with the exception of 2002, Miami has never had the talent to do that.
