I believe we can really begin to judge Ronnie after this 2007 season. The good thing is Ronnie isn't a bust, he has shown that he is a solid running back in this league and will be for years to come. What we will see in 2007 is, will he be that star? I think Ronnie breaks out and get his 1200 or 1300 yards this upcoming year. I'll go with Ronnie now, bring this up after '08 or '09 and then it's easier to judge.

Ronnie is probably the better all around back. He's strong enough that he can block and he can catch as well. Peterson will probably have more highlight type runs because of his speed but i'm going with Ronnie too.

I agree, and it all depends on who drafts Petersen. I think he will struggle if Cleveland drafts him like all of the mock drafts are predicting. One we get our O-Line situated, I think Ronnie will finally turn into the dominating runner a #2 pick should be.

It depends what team he goes to and how he is used...he probably doesn't want to end up in Cleveland.

Right now Ronnie is the proven comodity.

But I have a feeling that Adrian is going to be something special, maybe even on a different level.

I like both, but clearly "All Day" was the better of the two in college. The main question regarding Peterson is the same regarding Brown, "Can he stay healthy and be a workhorse?" As much as I want it to be Brown I think AD is going to be more productive in the Pros as well. ESPN reported AD showed good hands at his Pro day yesterday which was the other question regarding him.

I like peterson!! hes a slash type runner!! Ronnie Brown is a up the middle runner!! im not fond of Ronnie!! I think Brown is decent

I think part of why your saying that is because the most recent season Ronnie didn't really have that many flashy runs. That's partly to blame because of the O-line.

Im just not fond of his running style!! Hes more of a Striaght runner like a horse!! I like Ricky Williams type runners!! Tiki barber type!!

Who is/will be the better Running Back?

Good poll. It's a question that's been on my mind a lot lately.

I like Ronnie. No problem with him being our starter at this point, although it's also fair to say he's in the "to be determined" category compared to other established backs that have been in the league longer. But I don't find him necessarily as instinctive as I would like, given a choice. That was one of the minor criticisms of him coming out of Auburn.

A.P., to me, seems more instinctive. Until our OL is in the top ten of the league, I think a more instinctive back has the advantage over any other kind. Someone to make something out of nothing--which is where Ricky currently beats Ronnie, IMO. Ronnie's hands as a receiver and A.P.'s injury history bring this debate closer to a dead heat for me.

I voted for A. P. That's with my head, not my heart.

For all we know, Cam and Mueller are sitting back discussing draft scenarios, and one says to the other, "Ya know, Peterson reminds me an awful lot of L.T." And the other says, "I was about to say that." Regardless of how good Ronnie is, that's all it would take, besides a slip of about 5-6 spots, for Peterson to be a Dolphin a month from now.

There are some Dolphins I like more than others, and as I said I have no problem with Ronnie whatsoever. But it ultimately comes down to who you think might help the Dolphins the most.

Of course, I'd like to have both of them in 2007 to further investigate this issue. :D Considering the success of the teams around the league that employ two quality RBs, this isn't as absurd as it may sound. Look at N.O., for example. Duece & Reggie Bush? A lot of people felt they couldn't afford that luxury because they were coming off a bad year (& a monumental hurricane disaster), but when the picks fell as they did, they had the footballs to make the right choice.

PS - I am aware of both the purpose and function of an offensive line. I'm further well aware of our quality and quantity shortfall in that department.

But IMO, round one should always be for BPA. Treat yourself to the best player possible at any position in the first round, and fill your needs as best as you can in rounds 2-7 and with undrafted free agents, where the value of BPA and position of need can swing back and forth wildly depending on who's still available.

Again, great poll. Interesting to see what FH members think about it.

These polls are so useless because people on this board would choose Ronnie over every back but LT and it would still be close with LT lol.

It's hard to compare them, as I don't find them 'like' in their styles ...

In the end, I think Peterson will be a more 'dangerous' runner ... and Ronnie the more consistent

Ronnie. He has a good combination of speed and power. Ronnie ran an electronically timed 4.43 at the combine and Adrian ran a 4.40. Ronnie is 6'0", 232 and Adrian is 6'2" 217.

I think if Ronnie got his playing weight down to about 225 lbs. or so, he'd be the prototypical size for an NFL back. It's true that Ronnie is more of a straight ahead between the tackles runner, but that's usually about all the defenses will give you in the NFL. It's not like in college where you can run all those sweeps and options. In the NFL, just about everyone is fast ... there's plenty of DBs and linebackers that can run in the 4.3 -4.5 40 yard dash range, so you need to have plenty of power and upper body strength to run over them and stiff arm them, etc.

I think Ronnie is pretty good as far as his elusiveness and ability to make sharp cuts but there is some room for improvement there. That usually comes with experience in the speed of the NFL game, etc. On some plays he needs to get better at being patient as he approaches the line, follow his blockers, and then burst at top speed ... looking upfield for the best path to the end zone.

I bet Cam and Ronnie will be looking at a lot of game film of himself and guys like LaDainian Tomlinson this year and he'll learn a lot. With our new hole blasting, Mack truck, badazz fullback Schlesinger leading the way, I bet Ronnie's going to break out in a big way this year. Hopefully, Houck and Cam are also going to put together one of the best O-lines the Dolphins have ever had. Running backs are a big part of Cam's offense. It's more balanced than Linehan and Mularkey's offenses. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ronnie with a 5 yard per carry average this year and at least 1,300 yards. He was on track for 1,300 yards before he got the broken hand in the Lions game and had to miss 3 1/2 games ... it happens. Clinton Portis broke his hand too and missed most of the season.

Ronnie has good hands for catching the ball on short and intermediate routes. He was an outfielder and the Seattle Mariners drafted him when he was coming out of high school ... so he has good hand-eye coordination and probably a good arm for throwing halfback passes if he works on his technique in practice a lot. Plus, he's always been a pretty good blocker in the backfield picking up blitzes. He has good enough size to take on linebackers like Urlacher and any DB. He's the kind of player that Belichick would like ... he does several things pretty well. I read that Belichick loves versatile, fast learning players. That's probably one of the big reasons they stole Wes Welker from us.
