this is the way that I look at it. We were not going to get some great high round draft pick for him, if edge and Alexander could not bring a 2d, what makes anyone think that Ricky was? I do not care if he was a model player last year, the threat would always be there. I look it at like Nick brought him back for dirt cheap money, he got a year out of him and helped the phins win 9 games. people are saying that Brown cannot handle the load but no one really knows this for sure because he never got the chance last year. Ricky was a gamble form the get go last year and if thing went well maybe we could have got some thing for him but definatly not a high pick, and if things did not work out, which it looks they have not, then big deal, we had a strong back up for a year for next to nothing. Nick is not stupid and I tend to believe that he had to know in the back of his mind that this sort of thing could have happened and he has to have some sort of plan B. I am not any where as ticked off as I was when he pulled his stunt two years ago, in fact i almost hope that it is true so we can just put the guy behind us for good. I do not see this affecting the season next year and I think that alot of folks are over reacting. Let the guy sit over in india do what ever he wants. I have all the confidence in the world in Brown and I have all the confidence in the world that Nick is already putting plan B in motion.

People care bc they saw Ricky as either a great back up RB or a nice piece of trade bait to bolster weak areas of our roster. If the reports turn out to be true, the phins lose both of those angles.

Awesome approach!!! This is nothing more than a MINOR setback...when I saw it last night...I really didnt care much either.

I agree except that Ricky could have brought a 2nd round pick specifically because of why Alexander and James wouldn't. Their contract.

honestly, how good of trade bait do you really think that he would have brought? I just do not see it. I also did not think that he was going to be here regardless this year. and I find it a little hard to believe that Saban would have used what ever ricky would have brought us to bring in another RB. Don't get me wrong, I like Ricky and he was good for us last year, I just do not think that he was going to be here anyways this year and I do not think that we would have done any better than a third rounder for him. I want to see Brown be the #1 guy and I think that he showed flashes that he can be just that guy.

Ricky would never have or will never be worth what his talent level could/should bring. That, of course, is his fault. Nevertheless, his talant is something that you can't train and as a result, teams are always going to be interested in what that kind of talant can do to for their roster. Ricky is/was worth something, maybe not what we would like but more than what most are guesing.

We have to remember, that it was denver's (it was denver right?) interest that got this story rolling anyway. So he was being looked at. I guess we will never know what denver was going to offer.

i care, but i dont....we have a great running back in ronnie, i think he can carry the load, i thought that ricky for one more year would really help us but then he would be not as useful after becasue ronnie would be ready as a starter, loosing him now would hurt us slightly but we have enough time to recover before the season starts. as long as we can get a QB we are set i believe

so edge and alexander brought contract problems.....Ricky came with more baggage. I could not see him playing for the league minimum this year. So with edge and alexander you might be paying through the nose, but at least you would know that they were going to be there. Ricky killed his trade value the second that he walked away two years ago. he could have hit a 1000 last year and the mere fact that A. he would want more money this year, and B. the fear of him doing what he just did, I do not think that he would have brought a 2d from anyone.

I for one am holding out hope it gets worked out.... but this is exactly why Saban selected Ronnie Brown as the overall #2 last draft. It appears that he knew what he was doing, no matter what the results end up being.
