It seems obvious the Dolphins will draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round. Should we have Ferrotte continue to start, give Sage the go-ahead (does well in a 2 min. drill), or roll the dice with a Rookie.
My opinion, Ferrote was Lenihans guy, not Sabans. As much as they say the system will stay the same I doubt it. The terminology will stay the same, but I feel a double dose of the running game coming. Could we play our first round QB right away, maybe thats wishing. I suggest the best QB from Pre-season get the nod.
Id like to see Saban get Rohan Davey for additional insurance, he knows the guy can ball.

My worry is that Tommy Madoxx has fallen out of favor in Pitt. He was Mike Mularkey's guy when he was O-coordinator there. We don't need another retread.

That's easy...ABG (anybody but Gus....) If he goes after a high profile guy (1st or 2nd rounder) then I think Gus will stay for another year. Sage will be the odd man out. Lemon, we don't know about but he's under contract. The rookie would probably start the season as the backup to Gus and either sit and learn or get thrown in when Gus tanks it again (because sooner or later he will)...It will really depend on his progress. If he develops quickly, he'll be thrown out there sooner. If not, then we'd have to suffer thru Gus inaccurate passing another year.

If he goes after a lesser guy, he may not keep Gus, and bring a McCown or Brooks in and then not worry about the rook starting for a couple of seasons.

Personally, I just don't think he'll wait until the draft to shore up the QB position. I think he feels he got burned by expecting too much from Gus this year and will make a move in the FA market. While McCown or Brooks are certainly not Favre or Manning, they are younger guys that could have some upside. Waiting until the draft, almost dictates two bad things:
1) You have to trade up and lose picks/players to do so and we have several other holes to fill.
2) Even Leinart or Young are unproven commodities. So if you trade up, lose other valuable draft picks, and the guy turns into Ryan Leaf...you're set back another year or two...

He won't wait until the draft IMHO...

I agree. But I think it would be Jon Kitna.

McCown starter
Croyle 2nd string
Lemmons 3rd string

I hope those are our QBs in that order. I just cant take Gus for another year. How could I if having the 4th least amount of sacks and a prolific running game and CC, MB, RM and he still got a lower rating than McCown who was in Zona, ZONA!!!

Hopefully not Gus. I hope we get a young QB that's ready to play (McNown, Schaub, etc.). Gus should be a backup. That's what he's been his entire career.

I think we should handle the keys over to Sage for just next year, as our rook gets molded into play.

He did better than Gus at times, that is for sure.

I believe that Saban really does like Cutler and will try to get him (Within reason), if he does not get Cutler, he will take best player available (on a position we need), and will take Croyle in the 2nd or 3rd round.

But whoever the veteran QB is, he will be starting until the Rookie proves to be a better option then the vet.

The only reason I think Kitna won't be here is because of Palmer's injury...I think they'll sign him to a one-year deal that'll pay him close to starter pay as insurance against Palmer having trouble coming back, particularly early in the season...

The problem with this is that it still leaves us with Gus as the starter. I just don't think he'll go into the draft without a better option, in case the draft doesn't go the way he wants. He's just too calculating a coach to let that happen, IMO....
