Wasn't 2004 the year we supposedly fixed the offensive line? If the guys Spielman/Wannstedt did their jobs, the task of filling positions left and right on the Dolphins wouldn't be as difficult. Let's take a look at our positions of need:
QB: Daunte Culpepper (who knows if he'll ever play well again), Joey Harrington (not someone to build the hopes of a franchise around)
FB: Darian Barnes (Despite being a decent blocker, a good special teams player and a great effort to improve his hands during the offseason, Barnes is not a starting fullback in the NFL)
WR: Chris Chambers, Marty Booker, Wes Welker, Derek Hagan (I don't even know where to start with this unit. There is a lot of talent here, but consistency, concentration and playmaking seem to be foreign concepts to this group this year)
TE: Randy McMichael, Justin Peele (McMichael is just not living up to his enormous potential and has become a perennial tease. Peele is ok as a 2nd TE)
OT: Damion McIntosh, Vernon Carey, Anthony Alabi (L.J. Shelton was a miserable failure at LT and his horrible play forced the disappointing McIntosh into starting. Carey has had a decent year and may be starting to live up to his status as a #1 draft pick. It appears that Alabi may have been a wasted pick. The guy has had two years to learn the system and can't even start on a line that has struggled mightily)
G: Jeno James, L.J. Shelton, Joe Berger, Joe Toledo, Bennie Anderson, Seth McKinney (Ok, 4 of these 6 are either hurt consistently or on IR. But it seems that the philosophy of drafting or signing big, fat guys who can't pass block or pick up blitzes isn't working. James has been a flatout disappointment. His inability to live up to his contract makes him a likely target for a pink slip. McKinney has not been the answer at center and never got a chance to show what he could do at guard. Shelton and Anderson need a one way ticket out of Miami as well. It remains to be seen if Toledo is another Alabi)
C: Rex Hadnot (I must say that I thought moving Hadnot would pay dividends for this team since it was his natural position in college. He has struggled to say the least)
Defensive Line: (Jason Taylor is the only playmaker and Keith Traylor can still stuff the run with the best of them, but the rest are either past their prime or not very good. Manny Wright was a wasted pick and Matt Roth doesn't appear to be the playmaker Nick Saban thought he would be when he took him in the 2nd round. It remains to be seen whether rookies Fred Evans or Rodrique Wright are just hype or can actually help this defense)
LB: Zach Thomas still plays with fire and passion but has lost a step. He can no longer cover RBs and TEs, especially since he wasn't fast to begin with. Channing Crowder is athletic and has potential, but I am disappointed with his lack of progress this year. He has yet to record a sack, an INT or to take over a game. The rest of our LBs are warm bodies.
CB: Will Allen, Travis Daniels, Andre Goodman, Michael Lehan, Eddie Jackson, Will Poole (Allen and Daniels have been pretty good, but Daniels can't ever see the playing field because he can't stay healthy. Goodman has been decent, but Lehan and Jackson just plain suck. Who knows if Poole will ever play football again. I really have to question the playmaking skills of every player I've mentioned, because all of them combined have only 3 INTs in the last two years and Daniels has 2 of them)
S: Renadlo Hill, Travares Tillman, Yeremiah Bell, Jason Allen (Quite possibly the worst spots on the team. Tillman is god awful and Hill can run but can't cover anyone. Both of them should be gone. Bell is the only one who has made plays, yet he hasn't been starting. Jason Allen has been a god awful disappointment as the 16th pick in the draft, taking until the 7th game of the season to finally work his way into the dime package. Congratulation, son. You've made the bigtime at last.
K: Olindo Mare (Makes too much money and is very inconsistent)

Besides that we're fine!
