Madison or Howard?

Madison missed several tackles and blitzed right by a 20 yard Chicago gain. He just might be too old to learn new tricks.

Howard just plain got burned several times.

On a side note, I was impressed with Yeremiah Bell. He looks fast and strong out there.

I'm pretty worried about the secondary as a whole. I wish Poole wouldn't have gotten hurt.

Another side note: Please cut Donald Lee.

Howard, no doubt. He got schooled by Muhammad, and Berrian blew straight by him, good thing Rex over threw him by a mile.

howard just has nothing in coverage, madison i saw him miss on that corner blitz, just a perfect call by chicago for that play, tough for him to recognize that as hes coming in full speed for the QB, sitll would have liked to have seen him make some kinda play on the ball carrier at least to slow him down... howard just cant play man, and travis daniels should have started that game...

It's a new system, but they did look bad. The quick slant plays killed us, but I think the safteys played horrible also, a few times the corners stopped in their zone only to have the saftey getting there late (Bua many times)

that break up by madison was sic, it was a killer slap at the ball and was not a penalty. i did see him miss on that blitz, that sucked. our secondary is in worse shape then i thought. but then again i am a homer. we'll be top 5 def. haha

How many records do you think opposing QB's will break against your DB's?

I think at least 3 times this season, Kerry Collins and Moss will definetely break records on them, I think Drew Brees and Brian Greise will break records against them as well.

Madison isn't much of a tackler, but he can still cover a bit. THat PI on him was a weak call. He's solid and the best we have.

Howard on the other hand couldn't cover a statue. He was badly beaten on 1 long pass and was an overthrow away from having it happen a second time. He also fell down on another pass that ended up inc.

I agree. I think Bell and Daniels were the only ones that looked like they had a clue. Madison can still cover pretty well, but that's about it.

This is really the one area that deserves being trashed. We are going to be lit up all season long if we dont improve big time. That said it still is early but the signs werent encouraging. I thought Howard was the worst of the bunch

I agree. That was a great play on the ball. It should not have been a penalty.

I'm not trying to defend Reggie Howard, but that deep pass to Mush should have been challenged because he never got both feet in bounds. The refs blew that call. But it's a moot point right now, because Berrian burned Howard on a regular basis last night. :fire: He won't be starting with the first team when they name the starters for the third preseason game.

Its true. I'm hoping some of it is just the learning curve with the new scheme. One thing we're all going to have to get used to is seeing less press coverage and more easy catches on quick hitters.

Howard was an embarrasment.

Actually Mario Edwards looked extremely Aweful. He's a definite first cut. Did daniels play? I didn't notice him.

Edwards did look pretty clueless. Daniels played. You didn't notice him, because he was doing his job.
