Who will back up Green? Lemon or Beck

As of right now before Training Camp and Pre-season it has to be Lemon.

Beck has alot to learn and throwing him in as the backup right away wouldn't be smart, he'll be the backup or starter by year 2 but clearly he'll start this year as the #3 QB.

No shame for Beck to be the #3 QB. Brodie Croyle was the same for KC last year . . . and this year he is competing to start. We can only hope for the same situation to happen.

Cleo is better suited to be the backup because of his familiarity. He is probably gone after this season.

#3 QB's run scout team against the #1 D in practice right? That wouldn't be bad for Beck to cut his teeth against those guys on a daily basis... If you want to be the best you have to beat the best (D that is)

I would have to disagree about the rebuilding part. How are we not rebuilding on the off. side of the ball? we have 1 QB who was with the team last year totally re designed O-line, our leading reciever form last year I am starting to hear rumblings that he may be traded (booker), No TE to speak of, and to top that all off a new Off. for everyone to learn. If Green Gets his egg scrambled week 4 put in beck we arent going anywhere this year.

also remember Beck is older than your average Rook due to mormon mission. BYU QB's have a history of making impacts sooner because of the maturity

I chose Beck but it all depends on the situation, if were talking about TG getting hurt after week 8 then I say Beck, before then I'm saying Lemon. If we are talking about TG just getting pulled because of a bad record then I'm say it has to be Beck to get him some experience.

1- you don't plan on having a bad season, nor do you plan on Green getting hurt ... thus Lemon 'should' be the back-up [performance dependent, of course]

2- IF Green gets hurt early, then again, you likely go with Lemon to provide the 'best chance' for success ... [performance dependent]

3- the longer Green goes before he is injured [not inferring he will]; then you make a conditions based decision off of Beck's progress AND the prospects for playoffs.

4- IF the season tanks ... regardless of the reason, by week 9; then Beck should start -- unless, all signs point to the fact that he won't be 'the future' ....

It makes more sense to have Cleo as our backup. Right now, Cleo is much more familiar with the offense and its players,and in all likelihood gives a better chance at winning. Beck has a lot to learn still and there is no need to try and rush his development by putting him in when he is probably not going to be ready to play. Also, if Green gets hurt or plays like crap and ends up getting benched, it will give Cleo the opportunity to go in their and show what he is made of. And if he plays well, which I think is quite plausible, we have the options of being able to resign him/ extend his contract OR (what I think is the more likely scenario) trade him for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or whatever round draft pick after this season is over. Those are just a few of the reasons I think it would be far more advantageous to have Cleo as our backup instead of Beck this season.

Cleo is the back up early on. However, if Green goes down/plays poorly and we are out of the playoff race, I think they will throw Beck in ahead of Lemon. If Green is out and we still have a chance, the job belongs to Lemon.

IMO, Lemon is gone after this season. Next year there will probably be a TC battle between Green and Beck for the starting job, and the #3 will be someone we draft in round 6 or 7.
