Who will be our return specialist?

Sleeper...lets not forget Livas. I dont know if they want to use up a roster spot on him, but if hes electric an KR and PR. If he could contribute to other special teams they MIGHT (doubtful) give him a roster spot. If he wants a spot though he better be impressive in the preseason

bingo. i was lookin to see if anyone knew this guy. heard him mentioned that he almost took one to the house in scrimmage. not that it proves anything against this teams special teams....but he is fast.

Gates and Livas will probably both do it if he makes team cus eventually gates is going to be used in offense alot. and u got carroll who is decent as backup but looking for upgrade.

LIVAS!!!!!

folks, remember, thats why they brought him in. hopefully they have learned their lesson about not keeping a roster spot just for a return specialist. and another thing to remember, there are TWO guys back on kr's and that SHOULD be LIVAS and REGGIE BUSH!!

can you imagine that? what a 1-2 punch that would be!! and then have them switch off on punt returns. i really dont want reggie more than is needed as he IS going to be a big time prominant player in our offense and with a guy like livas around, that would be good to have him do most of it with he and carroll [whom wasnt to bad] on kick returns. less chances for reggie to get banged up!

why get rid of a seemingly big time talent just to keep a mediocre guard? if it comes down to that, there are ALWAYS 3rd string guards waiting for a call during the season. there are NOT big time return guys sitting around at mid season.

we shall see just how smart this bunch is now. to me, this is the kind of decision that will make or break this regime this year. they better get their special teams together and they better start keeping and developing their young talent.

GATES: he is faster than an eye blink but fast guys are not always good return guys. you have to have the quick lateral moves, to be able to stop and cut on a dime and get back into full speed right away and not need 20 yds to get it like ginn did. i dont remember if gates was a return guy [a productive one] in college but i have a hard time believing he was anything like livas. that kid is a return teams nightmare!!!!

LIVAS AND BUSH for return specialists!!!

but if the coaches are smart, they use livas and carroll as the main kr unit with reggie coming in with livas off and on. livas as the punt guy with reggie spelling him once in a while.

i'd only run bush out there late in the game if we're down and we've forced a punt or maybe late in the half to give us field position on a final drive...i just don't want to lose bush on a return team cause some bottom of the roster specials only guy missed a block...

edmond gates is the speed wr we desperately need on offense to help keeps teams more honest so i think its risky to put him back there also...ideally i'd want to put a grigsby or livas back there on return duties cause i think if we were to lose either one of those guys we don't really hurt our base offense much

A few years ago the kickoffs were at the 35, and there were plenty of returns.
