LIVAS!!!!!
folks, remember, thats why they brought him in. hopefully they have learned their lesson about not keeping a roster spot just for a return specialist. and another thing to remember, there are TWO guys back on kr's and that SHOULD be LIVAS and REGGIE BUSH!!
can you imagine that? what a 1-2 punch that would be!! and then have them switch off on punt returns. i really dont want reggie more than is needed as he IS going to be a big time prominant player in our offense and with a guy like livas around, that would be good to have him do most of it with he and carroll [whom wasnt to bad] on kick returns. less chances for reggie to get banged up!
why get rid of a seemingly big time talent just to keep a mediocre guard? if it comes down to that, there are ALWAYS 3rd string guards waiting for a call during the season. there are NOT big time return guys sitting around at mid season.
we shall see just how smart this bunch is now. to me, this is the kind of decision that will make or break this regime this year. they better get their special teams together and they better start keeping and developing their young talent.
GATES: he is faster than an eye blink but fast guys are not always good return guys. you have to have the quick lateral moves, to be able to stop and cut on a dime and get back into full speed right away and not need 20 yds to get it like ginn did. i dont remember if gates was a return guy [a productive one] in college but i have a hard time believing he was anything like livas. that kid is a return teams nightmare!!!!
LIVAS AND BUSH for return specialists!!!
but if the coaches are smart, they use livas and carroll as the main kr unit with reggie coming in with livas off and on. livas as the punt guy with reggie spelling him once in a while.
