I gotta say, I was getting there but that play at the end last week brought back all the trepidation and doubt. the team had done so well to be in that position. Overcoming that huge 14 point surge by Pittsburgh, regaining the lead twice, and being on the precipice of a sure win made me feel so good about this team. Then that play happened and our whole afternoon rested on a player stepping 1/8 of his foot out of bounds.
We're always waiting for that other shoe to drop, so then it always does. I think of the Tebow game from a few years ago. Marlon Moore literally had the onside kick in his hands and somehow dropped it, Broncos recovered and beat us. That **** just should not happen. That goes beyond the physical realm. There's like a 'Bartman foul ball' type of situation that happens to this team 5 times a year.
I don't have an answer on how to overcome that besides just flat-out beating these other teams to a point where the other team never feels like they're in the ballgame. I worry that Philbin/Sherman don't have that mentality and they seem to coach afraid. "We gotta lead, let's not screw this up", which leads directly to screwing it up.
