Everyone keeps assuming that Ronnie Brown is going to be the starter next year but I have a feeling that it could be Ricky Williams. Every report that I have heard about Ricky has been positive so far. That is a very good sign. When he is actually plays he is one of the top backs in this league. Ronnie Brown is also a great running back but I have a feeling that he will have a hard time coming back from his injury. The type of injury that he had will slow him down a little bit and so I at least think that Ricky Williams will start the season as the starter.

Whoever the better RB is will be the starter and right now that is Ricky because Ronnie is still recovering. However, once Ronnie is 100% percent again, he will take the starting job from Ricky.

I'd like to see Ricky start the season so Ronnie isn't rushed back too soon. I think anything under a year is too soon although I am not sure of the severity of the injury.

I don't think there will be a true starter at the position. I am convinced they will make sure Ronnie is 101% ready to go. He's still the future, Ricky isn't. When you have a guy like Ricky, in the shape that he's in, age is IRRELEVANT. He could put up 1500 yards as a full time starter, but I suspect Ronnie will get about 175 carries on the season, with Ricky getting about 315.

While i am a big (stoner) fan of Ricky's, I am not convinced Parcells is. Even though he's said he's happy to have Ricky, thats solely based on talent and lack of salary. I think Huizenga and Parcells discussed this early on in the hiring process and Wayne told Bill to get every last yard out of him.

There's no immediate pressure to win, so why not insure one of your biggest assets alittle longer.

I don't think it will be that lopsided. Ricky appears to be back to his old self and hopefully will have a solid year, but I don't think he will have almost double the carries that Ronnie will have.

Ronnie participated in team drills in mini camp and is on schedule to take part in Training camp. He will likely be able to go week 1 of the season. I think early on and perhaps through the entire season, this will be a two headed monster. I am thinking the two could combine for 400 carries with each getting around 200 a piece.

Like you said, Ronnie is the long term back for us, not Ricky. Ricky has stated he likely plans on playing just the 08' and 09' season before retiring for good. Ronnie is recovering from a serious injury, so that is the main reason that his carries will be diminished this upcoming season.

I actually think Parcells is a HUGE fan or Ricky's. When Parcells was at last week's mini camp, Ricky was basically the only player he was cheering on a lot.

I think Ricky has more talent. I like Ronnie too, but Ronnie still has to prove himself a full year yet.

Your talking about a player who hasnt played a full game since 2005!!!! Yeah great im excited that Ricky is in great shape and looking like the ricky of old thats awesome. He will not be the opening day starter unless Ronnie cant play. Ronnie Brown when healthy is better than Ricky Williams. Im not talking about 2002 when Ricky was in his prime. Do people forget how well Ronnie was doing last year before his unfortunate injury?

The reason why your hearing all these good reports about Ricky is because he is healthy while Ronnie is still recovering. Ricky is getting more reps and making harder cuts while Ronnie is trying to get in shape. I really dont think that Ronnie will have a problem coming back from this injury and if he does it would be a mental problem. How many times have you seen a player walk off the field with a torn ACL? I have only seen it 1 other time. Ronnie even said the following day that he was suprised to find out that he was being placed on IR with a torn ACL. He didnt even think it was that bad. I really wouldnt be suprised if the reason he was put on IR was because the season was already over for us and he didnt need to risk further injury.

Ricky Williams will be the starter with both getiing equal carriers per game. Unless one gets hotter during the course of the game, Sparano might lean one way or the other.IMO

IMO ricky is gunna start... Brown has to get a feel for the injury and soon he will be back on track with a full head of steam ..until then its the ricky show

i hope they both play this year, but only ronnie brown knows how good his knee is, hopefully ricky with a dash of parmele can hold down the fort until ronnie can come back.

I think the fact that Ricky (I realize it is early) looking like he is finding his old form affords us the luxury not to rush Ronnie back. Let's not forget that Ronnie is a punishing runner, this style has the unfortunate reciprocal effect of being punishing on his own body as well as those of opposing LB's. He needs to be one hundred percent healthy to be fully effective and this means he cannot be hesitant... The smart move is to start Ricky day one and ease Ronnie back in as the season progresses assuming that Ricky's re-dedication to the game and the team is for real.
