Who will Rise/Fall in Camp?

I have my finger crosse hoping that Vernon Carey shows up to be a massive steal instead of being the bust he has been. I really have wanted Moore to show up, but i think it is a little late for that. I hope Boston shows up. And I really hope someone steps up at RT because something makes me think McDougle is not going to be affordable after his one year contract runs out.

Inappropriate to label someone a bust after just one season. Especially an O-linemen.

I'm looking for good impressions left by our whole rookie class. In particular, I think Anthony Alabi will step up and impress a lot of people. Also, look for some solid stuff from Lamar Gordon, Yeremiah Bell and Derrick Pope.

Hopefully we'll see some really good stuff in the QB battle too.

I really think Crowder will make a huge impact, mostly on special teams but I would not be surprised either if he starts at LB. I think if he keeps his act together Boston will be huge for us and I think the addition of Heath Evans at FB will be a major reason our running game will be very good. I can't wait also to see my guys Wes Welker and Tony Bua make some noise aswell.

Atari Bigby Baby!!!

Nasty

Kay Jay Harris acording to Jason Cole will not make the team maybe pratice squad due to Miami having Ronnie Brown Ricky Williams Lamar Gordon and Travis Minor....

I disagree here. I think Minor is on his way out the door. He is making way too much money to be the #4 back on the roster. Kay Jay Harris will end up being the #4 back on the roster becasue he's cheaper. It's the right business decision to make.

As much as I see Daniels being a promising player for years to come, I don't expect him to have much of an impact on our team this year except for ST and an occassional play here or there since I expect him to be the Dime corner. I don't expect him to start because playing CB as a rookie is the defensive equivalent to playing WR as a rookie. There is just so much to learn from the college game and so much more speed and strength in the NFL that rookie CB hardly ever make an impact. Yes there have been some that have made an impact and yes he's familiar with the system but if you think about our own team, even Madison and Surtain were eased into the position. Will Poole was decent last year but he wasn't an impact player and I expect him to be better than Daniels when it's all said and done. So although I think Daniels will have a good career as a phin, he won't make that much of an impact this season as a CB IMO.

Saban made the most out of his first four picks. I think Brown, Crowder, Daniels, and Roth will be the real gems from our draft class this year. I also think that Kay Jay Harris will show enough skills to convince Saban that Minor is too expensive to keep when Kay Jay can do just as well for less money as the #4 running back on our roster.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Atari Bigby can do at camp. Don't know much about him, but he seems to be a consensus favorite that most fans are pulling for. I wish him the best, becasue it would only benefit our team.

I hope to see Tony Pape, and Anthony Alabi make some noise in the preseason. With Hudson Houck on board, I expect to see some major improvements from these two. At least one of these guys should push Taylor Whitley down the depth chart.

The one guy that I can't wait to see in camp, but will have to wait another year for because of injury is Shirdonya Mitchell . This guy can play, we will have Will Poole back healthy and an experienced Travis Daniels in his second year to go along with Shirdonya Mitchell will give us a great young corp of CBs for the future.

Going up= McDougle, Daniels, Roth, Spragan, Crowder
Going Down= Bowens, Minor, and Whitley

Good thread.

Five players I'm looking for to have big camps...
1. Matt Roth - Will win the LDE starting job and before long will give the Phins a pass rushing combo to rival Mathis/Freeney in Indy.
2. Stockar McDougle - Will show he was a wise investment and we'll be looking to lock him up to a long-term deal by week 9.
3. Alex Holmes - Will beat out Donald "Holding, #85" Lee for the #2 TE spot.
4. Gus Frerotte - I think he's winning the starting job.
5. David Boston - I think D-Bo will have a big camp. I think he knows this is probably his last chance, and that's going to light a fire under his butt.

Five players I think will, unfortunately, have problems...
1. AJ Feeley - Please, please, PLEASE do not turn this into a referendum on Feeley. I'm already on record about this in my commentary.
2. Vernon Carey - Couldn't hack it at RG or RT last year, so he moves to the hardest position on the line to play. I'm not optimistic.
3. Mario Edwards - He hasn't been good anywhere yet, why expect him to start now?
4. Keith Traylor - He'll still start and will probably play okay, but he's going to look like crap in 100 degree, 100% humidity.
5. Kevin Vickerson - The early reports have been lousy.

Going up
  • Brown, Daniels, Boston, Crowder, Roth, McDougal, Carey, JT, Carter, Gordon, Hadnot, RW, Frerotte, Evans, Rosenfels
Going down
  • Berlin, Moore, Whitley, Smith, Chester, Minor, Feeley, Martin, Jenkins
Wild cards
  • Davis, Poole, Bell, Harris, Solomona, Pape,

we are is a predicament over our d-line. we have kevin carter DT/DE JT DE, vonnie holliday DE kieth traylor DT and Roth DE

JT will start right side as usual
Kieth traylor will start DT
kevin karter/ Zegonia other DT
Roth and Hilloday will fight it out for DE
No, I really don't think they'll "fight it out", it will be more of a rotation.

I believe sage rosenfels, travis minor and eddie moore are on their way out!!!!

eddie moore was a first round pick two years ago and has done NOTHING!!

rosenfels needs to go to make room for berlin. saban has recruited berlin since high school.

we will have lots of good backs which is a good thing. brown, williams, gordon and harris. sorry minor gotta go.

those are the three big names to go. i also believe feeley will have a good camp and take over at qb without question.

we will have an improved o-line this year.

aj feeley, heath evans, ronnie brown, ricky williams, chris chambers, marty booker, david boston and randy mcmichael (sometime). this will be a huge improvement over last year.

Ricky williams will be in camp before ronnie brown which will give ricky time to mend bad feelings with teammates. he will also IMPRESS everyone!! I can't wait to see ricky back on the field. the dolphins have him right where they want him. play or give us $8.6 million!!!!!! last year was a joke especially ricky, but it is time to forget it and move on. i don't want another 4-12 season!!!

Does anyone know much about heath evans? is he any good?

^^^^ Eddie was a 3rd. But I get your point. I think that fans should temper their enthusiasm about roth & crowder a little bit. not to say that they weren't great pick ups. I just don't want people to have unfair expectations of the rookies. there is an adjustment period that rooks need to go through and if it takes them longer to get on the feild than some unfairly expect than you will have posters stating that they are "busts" after just one season or even a half of season.....

I think Derrick Pope is going to struggle, just a personal opinion.

  • Traditionally only 5% (36 players) of rookies earn a starting job in the NFL..... I seriously doubt any player other than Brown has a shot for the Dolphins... and depending on circumstances that may not happen... Daniels may be another (long shot).
  • We added depth and competition to the team and training camp this year... it's about time.
  • Everyone is going to have to prove it when the pads go on... some will... many won't... at least we have some players, coaches and systems to look forward to this season whatever the "W" column turns out to be.
  • The goal is for this class to pay off in 2-3 years.
  • Saban: Expectations lead to Frustration. We are focusing on one play at a time. You don't think about a planting a flag at the top of the mountain while your standing in base camp.
