Which rook, selected in the later rounds, will shine in the next two years?

R2: Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor
R3: Kenyan Drake, RB, Alabama
R3: Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers
R6: Jakeem Grant, WR, Texas Tech
R6: Jordan Lucas, S, Penn State
R7: Brandon Doughty, QB, Western Kentucky
R7: Thomas Duarte, WR, UCLA

My selection: Grant! A loose cannon whose pint-size motor will ignite DolFans all season(s) long!

Now select your rookie??

I think Howard, Drake, Caroo, and Grant will ALL shine over the next two years. Very brightly I might add. I also think Lucas and Duarte will contribute very nicely. Doughty may have the tools. We'll have to see first, but he may really lack opportunity for awhile. So I don't expect to see much of him in the next two years. If he is SO impressive it make Coach Gase drool, we may see it may spell the end of Matt Moore's career in Miami at least. but unless RT gets hurt, I doubt you see much of Doughty. Pity too. He was a solid player in Kentucky. But he has to beat out both Logan Thomas and Zac Dysert, or whatever his name is...

Howard will eventually be the one who shines by he's going to take his lumps early on. I think that Carroo will be really good for us, but his numbers want stand out because of his place in the rotation. If we blow chunks and have an early elimination, I expect him to supplant Stills as Gase and Co. get ready for the future.

who in the nfl, that size, has had monster impact lately? Tavon Austin shines once in a while.

Use Grant the same way you would use Welker or Edelman and he'll be fine. Sure he's a bit small than those two, but he also runs a 4.1 40 and is quicker.

Sproles has a bit more meat on the bone, but Grant will be fine. Will be fun to watch. In the cases of players like Grant, Edelman, Welker, Austin and Sproles I think it's less about is the player too small to play and more about can the offensive coordinators find the proper ways to utilize them. I believe if used correctly Grant will be a very valuable weapon.

He wont be used like that though? I mean good point, good idea for an innovator like Gase. But Sproles is used differently than Grant, unless I am mistaken

In college Grant was used in the slot mostly, but sometimes he lined up in the backfield. I see him running a number of hitch routes, shallow drags and out routes. The thing about comparing Grant to a Welker or Edelman is that you crowd them a little more than you can Grant. If you cheat too much and try to take away all of the short routes from Grant he might fly by you deep and unless you have help over the top he's going to get enough separation that the size difference won't matter.

Pull up a Welker, Edelman, Austin or Taylor Gabriel tape and then imagine Grant running the same play. Of course Miami's primary slot role belongs to Landry, but using Grant as a returner and occasional slot, either teamed with Landry or while resting him, and he'll get a few touches here and there.

I don't know much about the picks, so I can't make a prediction; however, if our team is going to contend this year, it has to be Howard.

then I stand corrected. If the kid is versatile, Gase will give him a shot.
