The Dolphins have several options for the left guard position. An experienced Chris Liwienski could step into the position right away and do an adequate job or we could see what a rookie could do for us. What do you think we will do?

I get the feeling Kendall is coming. That's why I voted somebody else. Not sure if the Dolphins are sold on Liwienski, and Mormino is a project that needs time to develop and get much stronger to start in the NFL.

I'm not 100% sure but I dont believe Liewenski has much experience as a left guard. So I say Kendall because having someone there thats experienced in helping the left tackle could help Carey's transition.

Chris has quite a bit of experience at LG. He started 41 straight games there for the Vikings before injuries sidelined him.

And lord knows if he can be part of a unit that can protect Daunte Culpepper he can stand in there and protect anybody. Now thats having your back against the wall.

Agreed

The Daunte he protected was not the same one that came to Miami. Regarding Kendall, I'd like to see him here with the Phins, but I don't think the Jests are going to let him go. Would you cut a good player that almost surely will end up in a division rival or trade him for anything (i.e. conditional 7th rounder) to a team outside the division?

It happens all the time so why would now be any different.

We have no starting caliber left guard right now. I expect them to try to coach mormino up, but don;t think he'll be good enough this year.

I also expect that when 53-man roster cutdowns occur, the Phins will be picking up some guards with potential (or one, anyways) to see if they can get him integrated into the playbook quickly enough to learn line calls and play by October as a starter. it's our weakest link on the line... and that's saying a lot.

Liwienski will start between the two we have right now. If/when Kendall comes he will be the starter.

Wow. Are you honestly suggesting that the less than mobile Culpepper the Dolphins rushed in to play QB is the same as the highly mobile QB that played for the Vikings? Or that the Chris Liwienski that played well for the Vikings back then is the same player that we see now?
