i dont think i would really be safe with any of them but i hear that spragan has impressed and been doing extra work outs so spragan
I really love the Keith Newman signing strictly because of his pass-rushing abilities.
Spragan is more of the 1st and 2nd down 'backer, but Newman and Hodge will battle it out for pass rushing duties in 3rd down and long-passing situations.
Spragan will start, make no bones about it, but one thing you have to keep in mind is we will run a TON of nickle and dime packages, which means an extra DB is on the field while one less LB is on the field.
Our 3rd linebacker, opposite Zach Thomas and Channing Crowder, will be playing only about 50-60 percent of the time.
Let's put it this way: Will Poole, Andre Goodman and Yeremiah Bell will see the field as much as our strongside linebacker will.

I think Capers will use the 3 guys accordingly in different situations. The fact is tho that Newman really is the best of 3 all around. Spraghan's forte is run-stuffing, while Hodge is faster and better at pass coverage. Newman is better at pass rushing, but is really more accomplished in all three areas of responsibility. Capers will use these guys accordingly. But you're right, it's going to be a great camp battle to watch...
