Of the three biggest papers in South Florida, and all the writers that report for them, LeBastard is the only one who continually goes out of his way to bash the organization. Its uncalled for. I'd have say John and Al on MNF. They may have been good at one time,but they really suck NOW!

Actually, I like John. Sure he goes out to left field every now and then, but he sure does know the game. When he is talking about real football Xs & Os, it is more entertaining than any other IMO.

During the game, he usually knows what play was executed and is able to break it down almost on the fly. No other commentator can do it like John can IMO.

you know what amoung his peers he is considered a fantastic writer and has been called "the edwin pope of our generation". his context and prose is different then most sportwriters, hence his take is viewed differently than those with blinders. maybe his writing at times is too intellectual for many so they can't read between the lines?

what makes me say ridiculous is the childish reaction when a writer happens to tell it like he sees it or doesn't choose the home team (or cut them slack when none is deserved) when the flaws are obvious to a blind man.

and no those who buy the paper don't pay his salary...the herald does wether you buy a paper or not...and from where i sit most who complain about him aren't anywhere near miami to buy the herald.

Madden is annoying. I mute MNF because of him. He says the word checkdown almost every play and then writes all over the screen. He's the worst commentator.
