Who would you cut/release this offseason??

Looking at the salary cap page on finheaven, there are some guys who we really should consider cutting. Some of our backups earn more money then our starters, and we have so much depth at certain positions that we should cut people.

here is my cut list to save us money:

Sage Rosenfels= i think Saban is gonna use Lemon as our future backup, then draft a QB, and get a vet or use Gus.

Sammy Morris and Travis Minor: Saves money, and we can just use KayJay Harris as a solid backup.

David Boston and Kendall Newson: Saves money, and we dont need them.

Wade Smith, Eric Wilson, Jeno James, Seth McKinney: Not needed, Jeno James is good but he is pricey...and im sure we can draft a Left Guard seeing we already have Alabi, we really dont need to draft LT. Cutting Seth McKinney gives us the option of signing LeCharles Bentley:)

David Bowens, Keith Traylor: Pricey, and we have LOTS of depth at defensive line.

Junior Seau, Jason Glenn, Eddie Moore: Saves money, and our depth at Linebacker is great.

Sam Madison, Reggie Howard: Madison costs too much, Howard just sucks. But if Howard stayed it wouldnt bother me, he's grooming.

Tebucky Jones, Chris Akins: Tebucky is pricey, and Chris Akins also has some money on him...and our depth at Safety is great.

Cutting these players, should give us LOADS of money to sign players like Nate Clements, LeCharles Bentley, and Steve Hutchinson. We dont need Julian Petersen cuz our depth at LB is huge. Hutchinson and Bentley would seriously fix our O-line, and Clements with the addition of Poole would fix our CBs.


Just my opinion.......u agree? Who would u cut??

Howard isn't grooming man. He is what he is going to be. He's reached his peak and he is horrible. He is probably THE most over-paid player in the league. He will be gone without a doubt.
 
id keep sammy morris. he's an awesome 3rd down back catchin passes in the flats for first downs and he's a special teams star.
 
r u serious? id love to have bently, hutchinson and nate clements....but ur cutting like 12-15 players there...? remember we are tryin to emulate the patriots and instill a system that will allow us to bring victories and not just star players....so that when one guy goes down another will step up and do just fine (remind you of any team?) ..

Keep Boston and Tebucky Jones. Other than that I like the way you think.
 
Seau (love him but time to go), Howard, Jones, Boston, McKinney (if we can sign Bentley), McDougal, Eddie Moore, Wade Smith. Not as eager as I once was to see Madison go (how do you replace him and at what salary).

I would keep Sammy Morris, Wade Smith, & David Bowens for sure.

Its obvious Newson is not going to work out. I'd give Boston one more year. Recovering from a knee injury can take time, just ask Edgerrin James.
 
I would love to keep Tebucky and without question I would want to keep Sammy Morris, that guy is in every special teams tackle I see... and I don't think we can replace Madison as easily as everyone thinks
 
Thought Sage & Seth are free agents? No way we should cut tractor Traylor!
He may be a back-up, but still can get the job done and wants back.
Wade Smith (no coaching his first year, broke arm last year and was impressing in training camp) will be starting next year which leaves us still needing a left tackle and another guard. Travis Minor and Boston will be gone. Yes, hopefully K-J makes the roster instaed of the p\s, but I think he'll be back one way or the other. David Bowens is a toss up, but no longer need as a starter, might be part of a trade. Howard is too much like Gus, inconsistent, probably gone unless restructures. Safties and corners we just have to wait and see, but hopefully no Nate. One end of career Bill here was enough.
 
i think Tebuckey is set to make 6mil this year, so he cant stay...cant pay a safety that much

Taylor...id like to see him stay one more year....he still got suttin in the tank

Boston has to go...enough is enough already

Wade should stay also....young and i think he was doing good until he got hurt and he is cheap

Howard.....GONE!!!

Dmac....could be gone depending on how we draft

Jeno...could he be moved to RG? and we sign a stud LG...he is signed thru 09

its gonna be amazing to see what we do with our QBs next year tho. Gus, Sage, Cleo, Berlin, and then we gotta draft another QB and sign a vet. So we are like gonna have 6 QBs going into training camp to fight for 3 spots. Or Saban may be waiting to draft a top QB prospect next year or the year after, like Brian Brohm and just seeing what vets can do for now.

As for TBuck, i dont even think he played much in the middle of the season, i saw lots of Schulters/Tillman/Bell playing.

and id love to have Clements fix our CB problem. And imagine an O-line with Hutchinson a 5th year stud, and Bentley a 4th year stud, can do for our running game and pass blocking with Houck coaching. Look at the size of this line:

LT: Damion McIntosh 6'4 320 (unless u wanna add Marcus McNeil)
LG: Steve Hutchinson 6'5 313
C: LeChares Bentley 6'2 313
RG: Rex Hadnot 6'2 325
RT: Vernon Carey 6'5 335

Ricky and Ronnie will be having field days.

Honestly, it may be a better idea for Saban to fix our defense and O-line, and then solve our QB issue, because right now we have 4 QBs on our squad, 2 of whom have shown great potential. He may wanna bring in a veteran like Kitna or Volek to compete with Gus, and then draft defensive players, bring in Hutchinson/Bentley and maybe draft Marcus McNeil, fix our O-line. then NEXT year draft a top QB.
 
I remember hearing that cuttin D-Mac and Tebucky alone would save us $11 mil so unless they take pay cuts I can't see them coming back.
 
I don't think your going to see eddie more or traylor go this offseason. First of all, yes we have alot of depth at DT, but their all past their prime and need to be rotated in and out to get their best production. Also I believe Traylor is one of the main reasons for the Ds success. He takes up two blockers so guys like thomas can make the tackle. I think traylor we be around for another year. Moore is also going to stay. He is a young guy and hasn't gotten a real chance yet because of injuries.
