(or do you think they were the right picks?)

Remember, that you could also take any of the players in the 2nd (Pat Turner) group instead of Pat White.

A) Who would you have drafted over Pat White?

1) Phil Loadholt OT
2) Max Unger G/C
3) Mohamed Massaquoi WR
4) Paul Kruger OLB
5) Clint Sintim OLB
6) Connor Barwin OLB
7) Jarron Gilbert DE

B) Who would you have drafted instead of Pat Turner?

1) Louis Murphy WR
2)
Jared Cook TE
3) Jonathan Luigs C
4) Shawn Nelson TE
5) Johnny Knox WR
6) Chase Coffman TE

(Or add a player of your choice)

A) I probably would have gone with the best WR on the board at the time if i was following the trends of the F/O. If not then some stud LB

B) Knowing what I know now then Johnny Konx or maybe even a TE but then again I probably would have wited on that and see the potential we had at the time.

I dunno I still like the Pat White pick. Patrick Turner I cant even say right now..these guys are all still young and as a fan I would love to see draft picks light it up their first year but patience is virtue.

This thread is kind of an oxy-moron seeing as how hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to say now who we would have drafted by judging all of the alternate players performances

we shoulda traded our whole team for Peyton Manning. But noooooooo. We had to pick these two rookies that didn't perform since day one of a six game season so far.

/sarcasm.

Honestly at the time of the draft when our pick was up in the 2nd round I wanted a DLineman: NT Ron Brace of BC or DE Jarron Gilbert of SJS.

In the 3rd round I wanted TE Jared Cook of USC. The reason they selected Turner was for his size and red zone ability. Why not select Cook for the future who would do the same for us. I was yelling at the screen pick Cook! After the White pick I knew I probably wasn't going to be able to predict their pick in any round. The only two draft choices I predicted was Sean Smith and Andrew Gardner. I had Smith going in the first though so who knows.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I am still not ready to give up on them yet.....

That said, I can remember hoping for Unger at that spot, also liked Sintim, Barwin, Kruger and Sean Smith.

At Turner's spot....aside from the disappointment of the Giants snagging Barden 2 poicks before us, I really liked Inglesias, Dorell Scott, and Luigs.

Probably a couple of others, but dont remember that much as we took Hartline next and that pissed me off even more.

But like I said, hindsight is 20/20, Hartline looks good so far so I can't really complain about any of our picks.

none yet... i want these guys to get a shot before we go hindsight.. look at WR Clayton from the bucs... was really good his first year then what happened?

Threads like this kind of annoy me (although your entitled to create them) because if this was 3-4 years ago when we had draft problems, i could understand the second guessing. We are drafting WAYYY BETTER. These guys are not perfect believe it or not they will miss on some picks.

At #44 honestly I was thinking Sean Smith. I didn't think he'd be there at #56 let alone #61. So the fact that Sean Smith isn't included among your choices shows the flaw in the question itself...that there's no way to separate the hindsight.

That said, from among the players you listed, my favorites pre-draft were (in order)...

A.) Jarron Gilbert, Paul Kruger, Clint Sintim, Connor Barwin
B.) Shawn Nelson, Louis Murphy, Johnny Knox

That's restricting myself purely to the original poster's choices.

i won't do the hindsight is 20/20 thing - i'll just say who i wanted at those picks.

A) sintim
B) murphy

I wanted M.Johnson OLB and J.Cook TE

Johnson is a freak of an athlete that could have sat behind JT and JP to learn the position.

Cook brought matchup problems for defenses, height speed and excellent hands.

The P.White pick pissed me off a great deal (luxury pick we can't afford right now), we need OLB help and with Johnson, Barwin and Kruger available I thought one of them we're the smart pick. Even with S.Smith still available this is the way I would have gone.

Now we still need to draft an OLB in 2010 and we still need an impact TE!

skipping an OLB last year was infuriating - given how insanely deep that position was. that doesn't happen too often and this year's crop isn't nearly as good/deep. curry, cushing, sintim, english, matthews, kruger, barwin, johnson, etc. - how often does that happen?

i lost it when we picked white - not only b/c i never thought he'd live up to a 2nd rounder on this team - but also b/c i kind of thought we took him so the patsies wouldn't. total waste of a crucially important 2nd rounder.

this TE crop isn't too bad though. we can still get a solid one somewhere. OLB scares me though - there's only a handful that can handle 3-4 duties IMO. i'm expecting an ILB in the first (spikes, mcclain) and an OLB in the second (hughes, selvie, lang) - although i don't like even the top OLB this year like i did the top 5 last year. we'll see.

???

We are still not even halfway into their rookie season. The rookies from this draft have just barely started to show how they will pan out.

I liked Mohamed Massaquoi going into the draft. I thought we would pick him since he was still available when we drafted White.

He isn't going to look good playing with Man-gina & that horrific Browns team no matter how good he may be. Drafting White was IMO the stupidest thing that Ireland & company have done in the two years that they've been here.
