actually i think we can get .500 even, just think about it my firend and you will get it

I know man but all great coaches had an off-first year. Bill Billachick (sp.), Pete Carrol (at USC) Bobn Stoops (at OU) and I know alot more NFL coaches just cant think right now. Just remeber we have to play teh 3 time Super Bowl Champions twice plus 2 other very competetive teams twice also.

Round 1: (Ronnie)
Wanted: Benson or Ronnie
Now: Ronnie

Round 2: (Roth)
Wanted: a WR... terrance murphy or vincent jackson maybe
Now: Roth

Round 3: (Crowder)
Wanted: Crowder or jerome mathis
Now: Crowder

Round 4 (Daniels)
Wanted: Jerome Mathis or Antajj Hawthorne
Now: Travis Daniels

Round 5: (Alabi)
Wanted: Hawthorne
Now: Hawthorne

Round 7: (Vickerson)
Wanted: Shazor
Now: Shazor

Unbelievable....you are actually second guessing draft picks before one legitimate snap has taken place. Threads like these make me yern for the "Ricky is coming back" days....

i think its more about positional needs... maybe originally you wanted a WR, but now that you see how our WR core is coming together with boston hopefully healthy now maybe you would have changed your mind...

or now instead of alibi you see carey doing ok at Tackle you would instead take a DT with the retirement of bowens, etc etc...

its not second guessing the draft, its seeing what has changed with the things that have taken place since then...

If Alabi can play next year ala Hadnot and we can cut some overpriced Tackles to sign a real DT I am all for it.

Good question. I think Kyle Orton in round 4 was an absolute steal and would be a nice fit. I like Daniels, but I would probably switch that pick. I'd also consider Hawthorne over Alibi in round 5. I know Miami needs a LT and Alibi looks like a good developmental guy although a little small. Hawthorne screwed up with the marijuana thing, but he is a player and at another position of need. I can't believe he fell so far.

I guess I've softened on Orton to the point where I wouldn't have minded him in the 4th round. He kind of reminds me of Dave Ragone in that some said they would be first round material a long time before they were drafted, and they didn't live up to that first round grade. Ragone has been backing up in Houston and has made good in NFL Eu, so he may come into a Delhomme type situation some day. Orton is second fiddle to Grossman in Chicago, so he'll once again be available as well.

I guess I don't understand this fascination with Ernest Shazor. He's slow as molasses and didn't he walk out on his own workout because he was so ticked off at his slow performance, a la Maurice Clarett?

I guess if there's anyone I would have drafted in Round 7 aside from Vickerson it would have been Gino Giudugli or Lang Campbell...both QBs that could have a shot at producing some time down the road.

BTW I chose Dan Cody.

As much as I LOVE Matt Roth, I look at the tape of Dan Cody and I see a PREMIER defensive end prospect, a guy that will torment offensive tackles for years to come. When I look at Matt Roth, I see a Trace Armstrong type guy on the left side, who can play the run and pass, bull rush really well, etc. The problem with Cody is all mental problems and I don't pretend to know the specifics of that situation in terms of what the coaches know about his mental problems that I do not know. But if he's not the next Dimitrius Underwood, he's the best DE in this draft hands down.

I kind of wanted Antajj Hawthorne in the 5th over Alibi but I have heard that Hawk is impressed with Alibi so I cant complain....I wish we would have gone after McPherson at the QB spot but maybe we can have a shot at Leinart or Jacobs next year....BUT I don't want us to go 2-14 or 3-13 to get the top pick.

:yell:

In the 5th I liked Scott Young, OG from BYU, Wesley Britt, and I also liked Bill Swancutt.

Wow just wrote a nice freaking thing like 3 paragraphs long and hit backspace and my whole frickin post is gone. :tantrum: Lovely. Okay sorry, I'm pissed. I'll do this real quick.

Round 1: (Ronnie)
Wanted: Braylon, Ronnie, or Benson
Now: Ronnie

Round 2: (Roth)
Wanted: Khalif Barnes or Jammal Brown
Now: Roth

Round 3: (Crowder)
Wanted: Crowder (once he dropped so late)
Now: Crowder

Round 4:(Daniels)
Wanted: Jammal Brown
Now: Travis Daniels

Round 5: (Alabi)
Wanted: Hawthorne
Now: Hawthorne

Round 7: (Vickerson)
Wanted: Shazor or Wilkerson
Now: Shazor I guess.

Damn really pissed wrote a bunch of stuff that was much better than this. Oh well. Sorry people. Hopefully this works.
Brown was taken in the first round, unless you're talking about Jason Brown.

I meant to do a thread like this when it was more relevant, but a little irrelevance never hurt anybody - did it.

Looking back on the draft, a whole 3 months wiser, im still just as happy at how it turned out - even moreso now TBH.

However i clearly remember sitting there watching players get taken off the board and rooting for some of my favorites to stay, realizing that draftday might be my favorite of the whole year.

anyways, the point of this thread is to remember one of the best drafts ive experienced as a finfan and to see what changes you wouldve made, if any.

rd 1 - ronnie brown
still on the board - rodgers, caddy, cedric, mike
i was actually a little miffed when we drafted brown because i had my heart set on mike williams or braylon edwards, and was hoping we could draft a RB in the 2nd or 3rd. however now i realize we did the smartest thing because he will help our recieving game more than any other Rb we couldve taken and that mollifies my lust for WRSs.
wouldve picked then - mike williams
would pick now - ronnie brown

rd 2 - matt roth
still on the board - roth, dan cody, khalif barnes, justin miller
I was going back and forth between roth and khalif, who i was dreaming we'd get a chance to draft because i like how he plays and everytime i saw him interviewed or read those things he wrote for espn, he seems like a real intelligent guy. however, i suppose i should have more faith hudson to not need high draft picks. Now, the more i read about roth the more excited i get. i cant wait to see him on the field and i think he will be the best of the players still on the board.
then - khalif barnes
now - matt roth

rd 3 - channing crowder
still on the board - channing, eric green, david greene
of all the rounds, for this one i was the most clueless, i didnt know who i wanted to draft. i was hoping for the David Greene - i think i didnt even realize channing was on the board. now i love the channing pick, i might be more excited for him than any other, and i think it was the right pick and he will def be the best player of those still on the board, but i think i wouldve went QB with opportunity. im glad i didnt have to make that choice.
then - david greene
now - david greene

rd 4 - travis daniels
still on the board - kyle orton, elton brown, jerome mathis, stefan lefors, jason brown, darren sproles, roydelle willians, fred gibson
there were so many valuable options in the 4th round i wouldve been happy with any of these guys. travis daniels surprised me cuz i didnt know anything abou thim, but when i saw he was from lsu it excited me because i knew that there is practically no chance of him busting. i was rooting for jerome mathis - what can i say, im WR crazy and i wanted at least one. In the back of my head i was also rooting for darren sproles because i love watching him play.
then - jerome mathis
now - esp with the injury to will poole - travis daniels

rd 5 - anthony alabi
still on the board - anthony alabi, anttaj hawthorne, anthony bryant
i actually wanted anthony alabi so i was psyched when we got him.
then - anthony alabi
now - anthony alabi

rd 7 - kevin vickerson
still on the board - ernie shazor, eric wilkerson
It was the 7th round - who cares, right? ive never heard of vickerson. the one place i read about him said he was a 4th/5th rounder, but he's a turd. i wouldve went with ernie, esp since we signed a DT since and no safeties.
then - ernie shazor
now - ernie shazor

wow, running a draft is stressful, even when its make believe.

and this was just an excuse to make a poll because i like making polls even more than rafting WRs.

If you had the chance, who wouldve you drafted instead?

- I enjoyed the read on this one. I would have hoped we could have moved out of the spot to gain more picks. The Surtain move hurt , but was necessary due to the contract he deserved and what the Dolphins can do in the next 1-2 years.

After years of Wanny picks , at least I saw the logic in what we are doing out of this draft. The was Brown. We can't count on Williams and he wasn't in he mix at the time. Lots are riding on O-Line Coach Houck and the magic he can work with what we have.

- At least we didn't reach on Tackles that can't play in rounds 3-5.

I'm just glad we took Roth and next year we can take Greenway
