I've wrote about it, so has everybody else. We all agree that the phins are lacking in talent. But since we all agree the coaching staff is evaluating the current rosters talent, who do you think we should get for this team that can be real contributors in the future when we are supposed to be playoff contenders.
I feel the offensive and defensive lines are pretty much done. The last thing we need is a nt.
On defense is that which brings us to major problems. Our linebacker crew is shoddy to say the least. Joey Porter, gone in the offseason. Unfortunately is mouth is starting to write checks is butt cant cash. I was stoked last year when we added him as a compliment to jt, but on his own he just isn't the playmaker he used to be (mize well eat that cap space up while we are still rebuilding). Ayodele, stop gap, period. Charlie Anderson, looked good in the preseason, but now still proving he is only a special teams player. Hopefully we have two capable nfl starting linbackers on this squad (Crowder and Roth) only two more to go. The secondary is just as shaky as the lb's. Bell can play s and Allen can be a #2 cb. The last problem we will need to fix is finding playmakers on the offense outside.
The big question is how are we going to fix these problems. Finding a qualily starter on defense should be easy. With our first pick in the draft either Maualuga, Laurinitis, or Jenkings (I could care less who it is). If, and more than likely we draft a lb, the secondary may be more of a crap shoot. Hopefully either Chung from Oregon or Smith from Wake fall to our first # 2. Both have their ups and downs, but would definately be an upgrade.
With the second through the fourth round I would be looking for a stop gap DT and some playmaking wr's. Maybe Magee from Purdue or Hypolite from Texas as the big man in the middle, and some SEC products for wr in Byrd from LSU and Kelly from Clemson.
I think with a draft like this and probably a couple free agent signings it would greatly improve our top tier talent. What I want to know is who do you think we should keep, who should we jetison, and how would you replace them.
