Will it really be that simple to find a good candidate? Some people will think it's easy to find a HC but look at last year when we were looking for a GM....we settled for about the #8 option? This organization has been bad for so long . Manning d i didn't want to come here. 7 people turned down the GM position. Will that happen if we look for a new HC too? This is why I'd be ok with hiring a college coach. Some people are scared cause of Saban. I'm not. Look at Kelly. We need a new approach instead of more of the same.

FWIW, Miami should be a more attractive landing spot now than it was in the past. Would not be surprised for a few coaches to see the Dolphins as the easiest team to take over and turn into a contender.

I think it is a desirable job, especially if that person likes Tannehill. Gruden and Cowher won't want it, good IMO, but outside of Harbaugh, whom I believe wants to stay in CA, it is an attractive job.

There is no rhyme or reason to college coaches being successful in the NFL. Some have it...some don't.

I would prefer to look at someone with experience. Harbaugh or Kubiak fit that mold. Or an experienced coordinator.....like Bowles or Quinn.

I'll tell you who I DON'T want coaching the Dolphins. A loser who will tank games to get draft spots. That's the mentality of a pathetic loser.

Hickey was one of the first interviews Ross had. The talk about settling was overblown by a couple local guys and fans. That talk was fueled by an applicant claiming he turned the job down to accept another position which was false. Jeff Fisher took the Rams job because they had a better roster and QB going forward. This is where Miami is at this time. They have talent they just need holes plugged, depth and leadership.

There will be plenty of qualified guys that would love a shot at being one of only thirty two in the world. I'd start with Jim Harbaugh, Gary Kubiak and Mike Shanahan and go from there.

Ok, I guess according to you guys we'll have no problem getting a bunch of good candidates. If true then great. I just hope the right one is hired this time.

We had issues getting a GM because rumor was that the GM would be fired with the coach if the team didn't make the playoffs. The question going forward is will Hickey still be part of the future...if not we need to do this right and hire the GM before the coach. I really hope that Ross doesn't make the mistake of giving the coach final say on personnel or GM/Coaching duties. It hasn't worked.

Yeah... I mean winning meaningless games worked out so well for us in 2011... Meanwhile the loser Colts have the best QB to come into the league since Manning instead of us. Worked out great not tanking.

Well, I mentioned this in another thread, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that Mike Shanahan would love to have this job.

He's an upgrade over Joe.

This is an 8-8 team, not a 2-14 or 4-12 dysfunctional mess. Last year this was a locker room scandal dysfunctional team.

Loves Tannehill too- wanted to stay put and draft him in Washington instead of trading up for RG3. That would make some sense.

Dude, even the Colts won 2 games that year. These are professional athletes playing for their future employment. They are not going to deliberately tank games. The coaches are playing for their potential employment as well......do you think Todd Bowles would be on board with what you suggest?

Get a grip....I realize that Luck turned into a great prize, but remember that year there was 1a and 1b.....with the other option being RGIII. There are no guarantees.......
