Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ron Rivera last year a 2nd year head coach with a 3-9 record at one point? And this year the Panthers started 1-3 and he was on the chopping block.

The only game day criticism of Philbin that is fair to me today is not calling the defensive timeout on 4th and 10. It surprised me because he used his timeouts on defense against the Colts. At the time I questioned the decision to try the 53 yard field goal; however, that was based on the score as opposed to the yardage. Up by 6 I would try the field goal to make it a 2-score game; up by 3 I would rather that Philbin would have tried to convert the 4th and 3.

I just don't get all the criticism that Philbin is uninspiring. Who cares? All I can do is judge his game day management, and I see someone who is focused and well prepared.

Coach Philbin has to go, he's good awful, it doesn't matter who he plays.

He's not a winner.

I dont think Rivera is a great coach, but its obvious he is better than Philbin. Rivera makes a basically ridiculously stupid call to go for it on 4th down from their own 30 with more than 4 minutes left in the game and of course they convert it. That would have been game over. But our team doesn't have the will to put an end to it right then and there.

Phiblin doesn't have this team ready to compete for 4 quarters.

Philbin is in charge of the whole team, not just game day operations. If the team plays bad, he is who takes the blame.
If the team plays well, he gets the praise. He needs to be judged by wins and losses and how we finish this season.

And if they didn't convert it he's an idiot.

Philbin no doubt. He won 2 challenges and Rivera lost 1. Plus, Pilbin has Tannehil and Rivera has Newton. Coaching advantage: Philbin.

To be fair, does Belichick inspire in his drollness?

Speeches are for movies people.

wait...so the defense screwed up today somehwere? Cus on other threads, you would think otherwise.

How he speaks to the media and how he speaks to his team are two completely different things. Bellicheck certainly does inspire his team, thats really indisputable.

I was shocked they were going for it on 4th and 10... But then my wife says, "its what you do against the Dolphins" and she is 100% correct. So I knew they would convert it and I practically gave myself a hernia laughing so hard when they did convert it. She got a chuckle out of it too.

That's what Im saying. IT WAS A DUMBASS CALL ON RIVERA's PART, but we STILL couldn't beat a team with such a dumb call.

Carolina won because they have vastly superior talent to us.
Carolina is winning in spite of Ron Rivera.

Carolina was sloppy and uninspired.
I felt like we were a step ahead of them most of the game.

We just couldnt overcome the terrible personnel we had out there.
