Everyone said Ricky left the first time because of Wanny and how Wanny abused him and ran him 40 times a game. How it's all Wanny's fault!

I (and a few, very few others) always laughed at this notion. Called it BS.

Guess Wanny is off the hook tonight. We all hate Wanny and nobody will defend him, OR SHOULD. But now its safe to say.......he wasn't the reason Ricky walked away in 2004. He had nothing to do with it.

And that laughing you are hearing, it's coming from Pittsburgh,PA. It's Wanny!

Ricky didn't retire tonight, he failed a drug test. He ran away from Wanny's team. He didn't run from Saban's team.

Wanny wasn't a bad coach. He just was in a bad situation. The Dolphins are a very overrated organization IMO. They aren't much better than my Jets.

Your posts are getting old. Keep the smack talk out of the main forum.

Nick didn't give up two #1s for him.

Nick gave up $230K and a roster spot.

How does what Ricky does in 2006 "prove" his reasons for dropping out two years ago? It does nothing of the sort.

He was abused more than any running back has ever been abused. That might just have lessened his love of the game, don't you think?

No one knows for sure but Ricky's therapist... but this certainly doesn't prove anything about the first time.

He ONLY retired cause he failed the drug test! Not because of Wanny! :shakeno:

Come on, you can't still believe he retired because of Wanny!!!!!!!!:shakeno: Even after tonight! Vince Lombardi could have been his coach and given him 2 carries a game, or it could have been Wanny adn 40 carries a game. In 2004 he RETIRED cause he was smoking weed and was failling tests. NOT because of who the coach was!

Sorry mod, but that doesn't seem like smack to me. Just an opinion. Smack would be trash talking. It just doesn't seem smackish.

But he's wrong nonetheless.

It's smack talk that will lead to this thread getting off topic like it already has.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. He ran away from "Wanny's team" because he already had gotten word that he had failed a drug test and that he likely faced a suspension. Then he brought up some bogus excuse that he didn't want to work under the strict rules of the NFL.

Ricky stated that he thought Wanny overused him and that he didn't want a big workload. I also remember him saying that the 12-0 shutout to the Patriots was the first time he started to lose his love for the game. Wanny built a bad offense around him, and it was hard for Ricky to continue to abuse his body just to keep missing the playoffs. The failed test is what pushed him into retirement, but it wasn't the only reason. The front office chaos, and Wanny's poor management skills had a huge part in his decision.

If failing the test was his main reason, why did he come back?

Wanny was a big reason why Ricky wasn't on the field in 2004.
