Who's quicker/faster... Ronnie Brown or Daniel Thomas?

He's slow. He always gets caught from behind.

He gives defenders way too much to hit (midsection) because he hasn't learned to run behind his pads yet.. he runs under 'em.

Ouch! I was trying to look at the glass half full and you evaporated the rest of the water.
Then again, after last year I just want someone who can get out of the backfield.

200 rushes with 1 run over 20 yards last season
1128 rushes in his career with 21 runs of 20 or more yards

In 2009 Chris Johnson had more runs of 20 yards or more(22)
than Brown has had in 6 years (21)

Brown has to be the slowest 4.4 runner in the history of mankind

Ronnie. . . and its not even close. Ronnie Brown however plays slower than he can sprint. So the disparity isnt as bad as it seems. Anyway you look at it if your expecting Daniel thomas to be any type of big play machine your going to be greatly dissappointed. The thing is he is also not a powerback. He is a finesse back, so dont expect him to be running over people all the time either.

Browns problem was never speed tho. It was his vision. . or lack there of I should say. His lack of vision made him think too much and react slower than most top tier backs.

I dont konw why some of you get so caught up in combine times anyway. Im really not interested in how fast these guys run indoors, on turn, in their underwear.

What does matter to me is how fast they run in full gear on gameday with 250lb linebackers and safeties chasing them if they get past the 300lb linemen trying to destroy their *** at the point of attack.

I know Ronnie Brown was epic fast in his underwear at the combine. However in the open field in full pads, I was never impressed with his speed. He broke that one nice run vs. KC in I think his rookie season. After a year or two in the league, he didnt seem to have any breakaway speed at all.

yeah id agree for the most part. . . IN 2007 the guy was on a mission and was looking elite. Def was becoming a playmaker and had that burst . . . but torn acl later and he just never got back to that form.

lets see the kids game speed in pads on the field, were not the raiders here, though low 4.3's do look awesome on paper.

Ronnie Brown is faster, quicker, and more athletic without a doubt. The only problem is Ronnie Brown never learned how to use those skills on the field. He spent too much time prancing around like a ballerina.

Emmit Smith was no burner, but his vision was stellar. Plenty of sucessful backs didnt use pure speed to get it done, they know how to hit the hole and set up their blocks. Ronnie was one of the worst pure runners i have ever seen.

oh god, i hope its THOMAS as ronnie brown is slower than a quadraplegic turtle with a broken leg stuck in a bowl of molasses!

ronnie ran a mid 4.4 at the combine, in shorts, but have you ever seen a guy run slower in pads? and i have seen a lot of folks in these threads saying, "yeah, well i dont care about combine 40 times, i want to see how fast they are in full uniform with big lb's chasing them, etc........"

me to.

and ronnie is SLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW in pads. some guys are the oposite, they run fast at the combine and then look like a snail on game day.

ever see ronnie flat out run db's on a full run through a hole? nope!

and i will admit, right now i am damned worried about thomas. yeah, yeah, rookie, 4 days of camp, blah, blah...... but rb''s generally dont look real bad in camp as there position is the "easiest" on offense. and so far, he has busted no runs, looks slow and is getting HAMMERED!!

we really have to suffer yet another year ronnie and all the "he just needs o-line, this will be his year, you'll see" posts.

oy-vey!!

I was watching tape on Daniel Thomas last night and was going to make a thread about : whoever thinks that D Thomas is a power back is in for a rude awakening. The guy gets taken down by the first defender 90% percent of the time he really isn't even a running back in my eyes. He is more like a heavier slower Brad Smith taking hand-offs.

I don't get why so many people are worried about Thomas' "struggles" in camp.. do people not realize the D he is running at?

If Ronnie is slower, that guy has lost a ton of speed.
