It hasn't been announced yet... and gus and AJ are splitting snaps in practice.
My gut feeling is that Gus will start and play one series, and the rest of the starters will remain in and play another 2 series or so with AJ... and they will make their opening day decision based on how AJ performs.
I think if AJ has performed well enough to reopen the competition, then he has to have the edge for being the opening day guy. But, i guess we shall see.

Really the only way the situation is answered is to give AJ a go with the starting team. Unless they will both play with the starters....AJ gets the start. If he does well with the 1st team...he starts next week..if he doesnt Gus does regardless of how Gus plays with the second line.

Saban has said...the the #2 QB has played better than the #1 QB in all 4 preason games.
With that being said...AJ has been the #2 QB the past three games. Gus was the #2 QB only once...the Hall of Fame Game where he played better than AJ.
AJ is getting a grasp in this new offense now...so AJ will start IMO.

Interesting perspective. I hope you are right. I was to see IF AJ can play well with the starters (against a starting Defense). Then MAYBE we'll have an idea if he is really improving or just outplaying weaker competition.Sal Lisitano said:
