Thought this would be an interesting topic of conversation. Something to change up the typical threads that come up after losses.....Our running game has for the most part been abysmal all year. Who is primarily to blame? Our RBs, our O line, or the coaching? As in most situations like these, it is most likely a combination of the three. Someone, though, deserves the most credit for this garbage running offense....voice your opinions.

I voted coaches...I truly think it's a scheme issue. Whatever we're doing, isn't working, and my belief is it all starts with Mike Sherman/Philbin & Ireland gathering the personnel, and running the appropriate plays to suit what we can, and can't do.

Run blocking isn't good. Holes that do get opened up are missed by the backs. Backs don't break tackles. Coaches call plays that just don't work with our personnel. Ryan Hennehill blows and is also responsible.

All of the above, IMO.

I started a thread about this yesterday and I blamed Ireland for getting rid of Bush without having a talented veteran in place to step in. There is quite a bit of blame to go around however. Too much faith in Miller and Thomas. Miller is a scatback and DT stinks imo. The o-line is not very good either but years ago the Cowboys weren't running the ball very well and the line was getting blamed. They drafted Emmit Smith and all of a sudden the line looked excellent. Guys like Smith don't grow on trees but we need a dynamic back in this offense. It would make our offense lethel overnight.

Ireland and Philbin sorted through the personnel, implemented the scheme, and created the running game we now have. While I think we need a more powerful runner than Miller, he's not the primary problem.

I'm actually concerned with the play calling the most. Not to change the topic of conversation, but I don't understand the rationale of why when it's 3rd and 5 we throw for 2 yards time and time again. That mentality is just absurd

O-line and Ireland are to blame in my opinion. Anyone with a brain would be able to tell you that Daniel Thomas is a terrible running back. A combo of Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller would have been great. Reggie Bush has play making ability.

Ireland should be fired. Our second and third round picks have had zero impact this year. None!! Dion Jordan should be playing way more. He can get to the QB, he can cover TE's so stick him at OLB over Wheeler.

Option 3 with it being mostly due to the run blocking. Lamar HAS looked good in games this year, I'm willing to give him more time. Last week (and vs the Bucs) were so god awful though man you can't run for -4 every rush damn. Thomas I'm used to sucking ass so its no surprise, last week had me having hope for him though at least

Easy... IRELAND.

He's been building the OL since he got here and its still garbage. Got rid of Reggie Bush and still chooses to use Daniel Thomas.

Ireland.

Because they're hoping for YAC, which we can never get.

We should do more quick outs to the sideline, AT THE 1ST DOWN MARKER, and not expect to gain yards after catch.

This starts at the top. Six years building this line by Ireland with two off seasons of input by Philbin & co.Terrible results, absolutely terrible.

I thought I was the only one that noticed several GAPING holes to run through, only to have the RB run right into all the defenders instead

I still think the lack of playing time by rookies is Philbin not wanting to see major mistakes that rookies make. I think its part of the reason why we are in most games, but I think not having your most talented guys on the field is why we don't seem to make enough 'killer' plays.

In the end....its a sport....talent coaching talent talent talent home-field crowd.

We just don't have enough talent all around. Particularly the oline.

When Pouncey comes back, move him to left guard, leave Garner at Center.
Next year, Keep McKinnie/Pouncey/Garner Resign John Jerry, move him to right tackle....and draft a couple lineman and let everyone compete.

I've been saying since Thomas has been here that he just runs into people he has no vision whatsoever, it sucks to get injured and I don't wish injuries but he really just sucks and I think more miller will get us more production

Combination of the backs having poor vision and OL not holding their blocks but I am more disappointed in not being able to stop the run....that is something we have been able to do over the last 6 yrs very well and now we can't stop anyone.....

If I have to choose one it would be RB, our OL is playing as well as can be expected with 3 back ups, one guy who has always been inconsistent and one guy we pick up a couple of weeks ago.....
