Im probably going to catch alot of flak for this but I don't care. I am sick and tired of the bashing on Chad Pennington. I made a post in another thread http://www.finheaven.com/forums/f2/ginn-was-open-231614.html speaking on it briefly. It seems since Ginn isnt getting the football people want to knock on Pennington. Why on earth would you want to knock on a QB that is doing wonders for our offense. 5 TDs 2 INTs 1,101 YDs and a QB rating of 98.8. Ill admit he doesnt have the strongest arm, but he is intellegent and will make quick and precise desicions. Isnt that what you WANT out of a QB, given that our oline is brand new, heck, our whole team is new for the most part. You want a leader out there on the field as well in the locker room and he is both.
Chad when needed CAN get the ball out there, it might not be pretty but he gets it to work. So all this 'he can't throw past 10yds' bs is ridiculous. Some say the opposing D can just stack the box. Well they do and Chad will and can pick them apart and then in return it opens up our rushing attack. Brown is averaging 4.7 yds a carry with 7TDs. Ricky is averaging 3.9 a carry and was averaging 4.2 in the Texans game. Ill take that.
People are bashing him because of his arm strength. Arm strength isnt everything, just ask one of our old players, Daunte Culpepper. Pennington has lifted this offense up along with R&R and now we have a solid attack through the air and on the ground. Now my next question is this.. Would you rather have someone smart and gets the ball out quick and wont turn the ball over, or someone who is raw and has a big arm? Who gives us the best chance to win? Ill let you decide that.
Now on to Mr. Ginn.. You cannot blame Chad for not getting the ball to Ginn. Thats almost like saying you are blaming Bess for returning kicks because Ginn isnt back there. Chad will only throw to who the first reciever he sees that has the best chance of catching the pass. There is no doubt that Ginn has all the tools to be a threat, he just needs to utilize them. I remember seeing a couple slant routes, where instead of Ginn making his cut infront of the DB he would make his cut behind the DB therefore taking away any lane Chad had to throw to him. Whos fault is that Chads or Ginns? Not all passes have to be bombs, most of Steve Smiths(Carolina) catches have been underneath and he made a couple miss and took it to the house.. Something that Ginn needs to learn how to do before he will be sucessful.
Guys Chad is the real deal, hes the best QB we've had since the great Marino and with his production so far he could have a chance to make it to the pro-bowl. Stop worrying about Chad, hes getting the job done very nicely. Worry about why our special teams gave up 7 last week, worry about our defense not being able to stop their passing attack, worry about why there wasn't a hat on Shaub when he waltzed into the endzone. Its sad to say but our secondary couldnt even catch AIDS if they wanted to.
Those are the real concerns of this football team, and I dont know about some but I do know I have faith in this team and where we are headed and what we have accomplished so far. Leave Chad alone hes the best option we have right now and have had for years around here. Sorry for my rant but its just got to stop.
