He wasn't on a very good team, and was the clear focal point of the D each and every game he played.

He won't get that kind of attention in the NFL when guys like Hill, Waddle, Achane, Smith are on the field.
doesnt change the fact that he changed his whole physique an that completely affected how he ran and how effective he was.

I would say Grant. I liked him more with a slight trade down, but that probably wasn't realistic. I think he's a perfect fit. The Vita Vea comp isn't bad. Some Tim Bowens.

I wanted us to draft Savaiinaea in the 2nd prior to the draft. I even stated that I’d shake Grier’s hand if he landed Grant and Savaiinaea after the 1st round (despite not being a fan of him as our GM).

That being said, Phillips and Gordon were both guys I would take day 3 in almost every mock draft I did. I think we did well to add a 3rd next year and still land some guys who will contribute.

I’d give an honorable mention to landing Ewers with the 231st pick. However you feel about his time at Texas, no one imagined he would almost go un-drafted a year ago. The chance you find someone who even makes the 53 man roster with a 7th round pick is almost nonexistent. Just seemed like a zero risk move that could possibly land us a long term back up QB.

I liked the Grant and Savaiinaea selections.

I voted for Gordon. Like Marino’s last college year, his previous year was outstanding and I think that is what he will bring to the NFL.

My only fear is McDaniel will not use him.
I always get the feeling he doesn't like to let the the new guys play.

btw, Jalin Conyers is my favorite of the UDFA's that we signed. Got a good feeling about him and if he makes the team, he's part of this draft too.
I mean he is a TE (McDaniel likes to carry 4-5 on the 53 man roster) and his name is some iteration of ā€œJalinā€; he’s pretty much a lock to make the team.

I really liked the first 2 picks. I think/believe both would start from day 1, but the Gordon pick was great. Miami really need a bruiser, and he fits the bill. Unlike the others Miami have had over the past few years, I think he sticks and carves out a good role with the fins.

It's Ollie Gordon for me. I've always been partial to a running team and running backs. I was hoping Miami would take advantage of the deep talented group of RB's in this draft. Both Damien Martinez and Ollie Gordon were the two guys I had been wishing for. Ollie Gordon is exactly what most Dolphin fans were hoping for, a bigger more powerful RB; who can move the chains and be a force in short yardage situations.

As for the UDFA class. There are several. But I'll settle on John Saunders Jr. He's a very underrated and talented Safety prospect. Who somehow got overlooked throughout the draft process. I think he's got starting caliber type talent, who could flourish in Weaver's defensive scheme.
