Whose name do you want to hear?

Ryan Tannehill, its time to take a chance on someone. Playing it safe has gotten us nowhere.

With the 8th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft… the Miami Dolphins select: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State University!

Interesting and could likely happen. I would tend to agree that if Blackmon is there we seriously have to think about taking him or at least trading the pick for more picks, but if Sherman is convinced after personally working with Tannehill for a couple years that he's the one then I trust his judgement.

Floyd, and then ante'ing up a bunch of chips to get back into the first round before Cleveland's 23 to get our "first round QB" in Brandon Weedon.

If Richardson, Claiborne or Blackmon fall that is the pick...#8 pick should be BPA and able to make an immediate impact, not a developmental QB. If those guys aren't there I'd rather go Kuechly, Coples or Floyd.

I'd take Luke Kuechly in the 1st round with the 8th pick.

K Dansby will not be a Dolphin in two years at best and he is not a elite player now. His contract is too big, he is slowing down and we will release him.

Luke Kuechly will be a starter from preseason. He will got over 100 tackles as a rookie and is a future All-Pro.

He is on no one's list of players in this draft that could become a bust.

Luke Kuechly*, ILB, Boston College
Height: 6-3. Weight: 242.
40 Time: 4.50.
Bench: 27.
Vertical: 38. Broad: 10-3.
Arm: 31.
Projected Round (2012): Top-16.

4/25/12:
Kuechly is the top linebacker in the draft and one of the best linebackers to enter the NFL over the past decade. He could be one of the safest picks in the entire draft class. As far as pure football players, he is one of the best and is in the top 10 of everybody's big board rankings.

Kuechly laid to rest any concerns about his speed with a fabulous showing at the Combine. He validated his draft stock as a pick in the top half of the first round with the potential to go in the top 10.

In the 2nd I'd look for Bobby Massie

Bobby Massie*, OT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-6. Weight: 316.
40 Time: 5.23.
Bench: 22. Arm: 35.
Projected Round (2012): 2.

4/24/12: Massie has quietly moved up draft boards. He had a decent Combine but reportedly had an impressive pro day. Some believe he could crack the first round but should go in the top half of the second round. It wouldn't be a complete shock if a team takes him over Adams.

Massie had some quality games this season. He did well in run blocking in 2011. Massie is too strong to be bull rushed, and he has the athletic ability to mirror well in pass blocking.

Massie is still a little raw and could use more experience and development. There are stretches where he simply overwhelms defenders. Massie looks like he is a future starter at right tackle in the NFL.

Not flashy but fills needs with almost certain NFL starters that could be great. No real risk or possible bust.

In the 3rd start looking for WR and BPA.

I've been back and forth on this guy. But I'm set on Tannehill. At the same time, if the coaching staff passes on him, I won't question it. They have Mike Sherman who can judge how his NFL career will turn out.

But reason I'm set on him now is going to be a little weird. Say we don't get him, say we get an impact player that gets us a few more wins, and we keep Matt Moore at QB. All that is going to do is for next year is put us in a worse position to get our franchise QB.

If we get Tannehill, we won't know what he does until 2 or 3 years from now. So let's get him. He won't make an impact for us right away, we won't improve as much next year as we would if we took an immediate impact player. And maybe we'll be in position to get a more of a sure thing.

Now, that'd look ridiculous. Spending 2 consecutive high 1st round picks on QBs. But that doesn't seem to be a bad problem to have. If Tannehill pans out then great. And let's say we get Matt Barkley. We'll be able to move one. If Tannehill fails, then we got Barkley. If they both fail we'll only bet set back for 20 years. But what I do know is we can't spend another decade searching for a QB.

Also, if we get Tannehill, he won't be expected to start for another 2 or 3 years. Again, we don't take an immediate impact player making our pick a lil higher than it would be if we did. In the time we're getting Tannehill ready, we're surrounding him with talent. IMO, the best way to build a team is for the QB to be one of the last pieces. If you have a crappy team, and a good QB, it'll just mess with his psyche and make him unconfident. Put him on a team stacked with talent, where he can just step in and get the ball rolling pretty easy.

There's probably smarter, and much more efficient ways to go about it, but we gotta swing for the fences now.

Interesting, though, how some people all of a sudden don't want a "developmental" QB. If he's developed correctly for a season or two, the guy can be a very good to great QB in this league. Isn't that what we've needed for the past 13 years????

I think we have to go with Tannehill. I'm completely sold on him.

But..hell, when is anything a
certainty. Let's go for it.

My ideal top 3 rounds are: Tannehill 2- Lavonte Davis 3- Ryan Broyles 3- Brandon Brooks
I'm really hoping Davis slips to Miami in round 2 even though I think he's at worst a top 25 player. He may be undersized but the guys an animal and the ball just finds him every play. I see there being a very small chance he lasts that long...My fear is with their 2nd pick Miami takes Zach Brown. I

We've heard pretty much everyones opinion for weeks on Miami's first pick. It's going to be Tannehill so I think this thread should be about who do you want to see Miami pick in round 2. Round 1 to me has long been decided
