I'm having a little trouble understanding why so many people are hating Joey right now. Many of the same people who are posting things like "@#& Joey" are also the same people who would post the videos of his post-game chants in the locker room, his pre-game bravado during warmups, and who wanted him to get the defensive MVP award in 2008.

I believe he sees the writing on the wall and knows he will be gone in less than a month looking for a new team. That being said, why would it surprise anyone that he is running his mouth about wanting to be traded and how he wants to be an every down player? It's his only way to possibly land a decent contract (his last one I'm sure). In my opinion, he's trying to sell himself on his reputation to accomplish this (not sure it's a wise thing but oh well).

Here's my take: In 2008, he was great! He was a force on the field and the defense needed a player like him for the young players to look up to (on the field). He was the best we had by far. In 2009, he was injured, wasn't as effective, and started to show his age while some of the young guys started to come into their own. His work here is done but that doesn't mean I will hate him and wish him bad luck at his next stop because without him, there is no AFC East Championship in 2009! It's kind of like having a girlfriend where the relationship has run it's course. You don't hate her for it you just wish her best of luck and move on with your life.

It's true he galvanized the team last season and led us to an unbelievable turnaround. For that we've overlooked or rationalized away the fact that he's a thuggish lockerroom cancer who needs a posse to punk attack someone in the middle of a public casino, has fighting dogs that killed a neighbor's pony, was (not coincidentally) one of Vick's most vocal defenders) and has now undermined the authority of 2 of our coaches.

Now that he's just another overpaid windbag who can't back up the noise he generates, he's served his purpose and it's now time to acknowledge what he really is and kick him to the curb. Good riddance.

I like Porter but for a guy that under acheived this year I dont like his tone right now..What is he really mad about actually? He is getting paid right? for a guy acting like he is gonna light it up his last remaining years in the nfl is beyond me

So, basically all of your breakups have been clean splits and zero drama? I highly doubt it. Bottom line is this, Joey doesn't have to act this way, but this is who he is. When Miami fired Pasqualoni he could've been a jerk about things, but instead took the high road and avoided criticizing his former employers. When things are going great, Joey is a model citizen. The minute things stop going Joey's way he goes apesh*t like a child who doesn't get his way in a Toys R' Us.

If Joey wants to leave, that's fine by me and a lot of us. Just stop dragging the team through the mud, a team that gave you a pretty hefty contract when your last team cut you without a moment of hesitation. Joey should simply state: "I enjoy Miami, I enjoy being a Dolphin. However, if the team feels that it needs to go in a different direction, then I believe it is in my best interest to be traded or released."

If he says that, there probably would not be that much drama. However, because Porter is an attention seeking gasbag, who's a diminishing talent on the field, with an ego the size of Montana, who talks just because he loves the sound of his own voice is why a lot of people are ripping him.

I just posted a front page commentary on this. So I think you know how I feel.

To me it comes down to this:

He wants to be a starter

He's being paid as a starter

And he doesn't want to stay here if he isn't a starter.

I really don't see the big deal over him wanting out. I would much rather him get his a$$ out of here before we pay him any more money.

I mean would you guys rather he not be vocal about wanting to be traded and have an overpaid waste of space next season? I doubt it.

On Rome is Burning the other day when he stated "I make too much money, to be a role player, why rotate me and make me a role player when you are paying me this much money?". How much simpler could that be? Why is everyone so emotional over that? It makes sense.

No they haven't all been clean but why is it that the same people who were praising him last year are the same ones who want him dead this year? If we're headed in a new direction or if he's not good enough for our team (which is what I think) why do we have to hate on the player? It's similar to whenever we cut a guy, people on here want him to suck on his next stop(s) and when we sign some scrub who got cut from the Lions or the Rams, he's all of a sudden a "diamond in the rough". That's ridiculous!

I'll be happy when he's gone because it's time for him to go. I won't hate him or wish him bad when he's gone. His time here is done. When he came to us, we knew what we were getting. A loud mouth who's game for the most part matched his talk. That wasn't the case in year 1 but it was in year 2. He was never seen as a NFL Man of the Year candidate so why is anyone surprised that Joey is being Joey? This is what I expect out of him.

Correction. This is like having a girlfriend where the relationship has run its course, and then she comes back and says "I never even liked you anyways."

This is Joey being Joey. He knows he's going to be cut so he's making noise to make it seem that the reason he got cut wasn't because his skills are diminishing (which is the real reason) but because his mouth ran him out of town. The guy wants to be an every down player. He won't be for us and he's hoping some team will be foolish enough to give him starter money even though he couldn't start for a good team.

LOL!! Good answer! However, if that's the case, you know you're going to be alright in the end (because it has run it's course) and you just say to yourself "she's only saying that because she's still hurt"

By the way, isn't the "I never even liked you anyways" response what you get from a lot of the posters here when a player they once "loved" leaves the team (i.e. Jason Taylor circa 2008)?

Some people just don't get it... It's all about production and winning. Do I really need to explain it any further?

The reason why fans are emotional is because Porter is the one acting foolish, every player in the league wants what you claim Porter wants.

But most(not all) dont under cut the authority of now 2 head coaches, dont come off as if he is blameless in his reduced role & they understand this is a business and act accordingly.

I am less concerned with Porters act and more disturbed with Tony Sparano for being reluctant to "rock the joey boat" its a real disappointment to see another HC be passive with a trouble making player.

Im sick of coaches trying to be liked by there players.

I have said this elswhere I wish the dolphins would pull an Al Davis and just keep Porter here and let him rot on the bench, ala Davis' treatment of Marcus Allen(undeserved in his case).
