I really can't understand why so many of you are so negative after the game yesterday- a loss to a superior team, quite possibly the best team in the NFC, by a mere 7 points.

The way I see it we have a LOT of room for optimism through 8 games despite our 3-5 record for the following reasons:

-The offensive line is showing marked improvement, and Randy McMichael is starting to become a more well-rounded tight end with better blocking. Randy also is showing signs of becoming more of a team leader.

-We have two draft picks that look like future stars (Brown and Crowder), one other who has earned a starting position (Daniels), and yet another who at least contributes (Roth). If Saban continues to draft like this, we will uncover even more playmakers.

-We've found a punter off the scrap heap who very well may be in the running for the Pro Bowl this season, Mare has regained his previous form, and Welker has proven to be a keeper as our kick returner and occasional receiver.

While we have weaknesses in the secondary and lapses at the receiver position, clearly the main flaw here is the quarterback position. How Saban and Mueller address this problem in the offseason will determine whether we can become AFC Contenders next season or whether rebuilding will take even longer.

In any event, this team if finally on the upswing regardless of the 3-5 record. We must all focus on the many developing positives in the process of rebuilding instead of simply looking at the final result each week.

Just my two cents.

the negativity I believe stems from the fact that multiple games have been handed to the team on a silver platter, to which they said...No thanks, I'm not hungry.

i think its cause we are always so close... everything in our losses has seemed to be by the smallest of margins, one play or one penalty, or one turnover... has killed us in many games...

and when you get that close and throw it away its very frustrating, and people get negative when they are frustrated...

i mean we are 8 yards from a tying touchdown and to have a pick there hurts...

All the negativity is due to the fact that a huge amount of Dolphin fans on this site are spoiled brats who only support their team through good and bad-mouth them through bad. Piss-poor fans would cover it too! you know who you are!!

As crappy as we played we still could have won the game. If we had a better qb at the helm. Thats whats amazing.

Good analysis. The most important thing Saban did was take advantage of our high draft pick. Ricky is now expendable and we have a franchise back for the foreseeable future. Add to that a relatively young and talented receiving corps and a rapidly improving (and young)o-line and we are a qb away from a good/great offense. He at least started the youth movement on D with Crowder, Roth and Daniels, and we get Poole back next year. He's building a talented team that will be good for years to come. It is just going to take more than one season to fix the wreckage that Dave and Rick left him.

Probably how Carolina felt against us !

The negativity stems from the fact that Gus is our QB.

Now tell me the truth. When the game was getting ready for Kick Off and they were showing the highlight clips before kick off ... then you saw the Jersey with the name FREROTTE come across the screen .... who got excited? Anyone? I just thought .. would be nice to see a name on the back of our QB's Jersey that could get you excited at least a little bit.

Good points. A little rose-colored but good. One loss get's us all fired up around here.

I just am NEGATIVE over the fact Gus made a horrible throw he did not have to make.....the play call sucked and Gus forced a throw over the middle. I know it is easy to Monday-Morning-Quarterback and say what coulda, shoulda been called but the bottom line is we gave away a game we could have won. We probably had no business even being close enough to win it, but good teams find ways to pull these games out....the Phins never seem to win these kind of games and I put this one on Linehan. :fire:

Very simply, we are not yet a good team. Patience.

Very well put, they had plenty of opportunities in this game to win, but poor play/playcalling lost another one for us.

Because this was another game that was winnable. It doesnt matter how much yardage the defense gave up, it's the number of points. Atlanta does not have a dominant defense and our offense should be able to put up more than 10 points at home. You measure success by your own performance and execution, not by how you play against a given opponent. The Dolphins were not dominated by this team or outclassed as some have suggested
