Just curious for all those Green/Ditka/Martz/MoraJr/Carroll/whoever supporters. Why do you want to bring back someone who got fired?

I work for a national drugstore chain, and whenever we fire someone for sexual harrassment, doing a crap job or whatever, our main competitor scoops them up like gold. Really quite funny.

Bottom line, they got fired because they didnt get the job done. Why do you want to bring them back, instead of getting a new guy? With the retreads you know what you will likely get. A few mediocre years of first/second round unimpressive playoff losses and a steady decline back to where we are now.

IF saban leaves (yes IF, i think he will, but we cant be sure just yet) we need someone who will come in and light a fire under us, take us to a new level. I want to see a revitalization like Lovie Smith is doing in Chicago, Mangini in NYJ (ugh cant believe i said that!), Nolan in San Fran etc.
And please, not from the college ranks. The litany of failed coaches is to long for memory. Very rarely do you stumble across anyone worth having from there.

It's difficult to put all coaches who have been fired in the same basket. Mularkey seems a terrible idea. Capers took on two expansion teams and took one to the playoffs. The other was doomed by the poor health of first expansion pick Tony Boselli. If the Titans fired Jeff Fisher tomorrow, he'd be at the top of my short list. It's a case by case analysis.

Yes yes, there are always exceptions. I just dont get excited at all when thinking we might hire a coach who got fired from his previous job. Capers bombed in Houston for more than Bosselli btw, and the Titans arent gonna fire Jeff.

Still, we need to be careful who we hire. Unlike the packers who hired the OC of the worst team and worst offense in the league. That made me laugh.

My sources tell me that the talent gauge on an NFL coach is somewhat variated from that of a drug store employee.

Again, take it for what it's worth -- my sources could possibly be inaccurate, but this is what I'm hearing.

I don't see it. He wasn't in charge of personnel, and we're talking about a swing from franchise left tackle to guy who didn't even play for the team. Do you think Carr would have been sacked a record number of times with TB protecting him? That very likely gets him over the hump in 2004 when he got the team to 7-9 anyway.

Not sure what you are saying here ...
yes i know my profession is uninspiring, but I am able to make basic observations. I may not be that old, but Ive followed football closely for as long as I can remember. I may not be a HC candidate but im not a moron either.

I live here, i watch them. Personell did play a big part to be sure, but the coaching wasnt there either. It was a team without fire. Capers seems to be one of those "great coordinator, decent at best HC" type of guys. I wouldnt be mad if we made him HC, but I really dont feel it would be in our best long term interests.

Steve Mariucci

Nobody think he can do a great job in florida???

HE is a great prove coach

This is two TOTALLY different can of worms. Professional and collegiate athletics has a history of signing "retreaded" coaches. They are either proven winners who left on their own, went through a bad time with their previous team(s) or wasn't moving in the right direction fast enough.
Let me ask you this question. If said employee is fired from a national drug store for bad performance. Can said employee not get another job with another national drug store?
