Two part post:

i. IMO, allowing 31 points in a game where your offense turns the ball over FOUR TIMES is respectable, not amazing by any means, but enough that the blame for the loss is not on the D.

ii. I blame this loss squarely on, 1. Silly play-calling (why have RICKY throw a pass when we're running the ball down their throats?); 2. We don't have a #1 or #2 wide-out... our guys, primarily Ginn, drop more eggs than the Easter bunny; 3. Chad Henne's arm being too powerful (and him not having control over it), I saw a lot of catches that could have been taken for many more yards after-carry, but Henne's ball placement is so conservative and slightly off target that receivers do not (when able to make the catch) have a chance to run with the ball at all.

Thoughts?

They gave up over 336 yards to a team that has only won three games that is why. When Miami went down the field and scored to start the second half they allowed Fluffalo to answer. They gave up a 31 yard TD scramble to a back-up QB, they allowed TO to put a nail in the coffin by burning them for a 51 yard bomb. Shall I continue are do you get the picture?

Now with that said the offense is also to blame. I can honestly say this loss was a team effort. Enough blame to go around, especially the coaching staff.

Most teams give up a few big plays a game. We've given them up in every game, even our wins.

As for 336 yards... that's below the average number of yards allowed in any game on any given Sunday in the NFL. However, I guarantee you 4 turnovers is WAAAY over the league average.

I never said the D did exceptionally well, just that I think taking the four turn-overs into considerations, 336 yards and 31 points is respectable.

haha. well two backups did just beat our d. we need faster lb's and a real wr.

You know why people are blaming the D? It's because they rested for 10 minutes on the sideline during a great offensive drive that resulted in a 14-7 lead. Then proceeded to get their *** handed to them while they watched Fitzpatrick and company run/pass down their throats to the endzone at the beginning of the 4th. Completely killed momentum. I blame the offense just as much, but the defense deserves a lot of the blame also.

During this season, the defense has not performed well. I have not seen them perform well in a single game, so I have no problem assigning a large share of the blame to them. The biggest share goes to Henne and his poor mechanics during this game.

Not just this game but we are #26 in the NFL in points allowed
thats just not a very good defense any way you slice it.

Although this was a combination of things going wrong on both sides of the ball, it's hard to over look the fact that the defense has given up 49 points in the 4th quarter of the last 3 loses.

After we took the lead 14 - 7 we let them march down the field with no resistance... then we get into trouble... our defense play has been poor all season long...

Colts game, saints game... ugh....

Even after Henne's first interception, we were still only down 17-14 with 2:30 left in the 4th and a timeout. Our D had an opportunity to get a 3 and out and give our offense another shot to win or tie the game... and what happens? First play 50 TD to Owens. That left us with absolutely no chance.

Before the 4th quarter, I thought the D played pretty well sans a few drives. But, there is no doubt in my mind that the defense did just as much to lose the game as the offense. A good defense would've stepped up when the game was on the line and given our offense another shot.

Because our defense blows. They consistently let us down every second half. We have given up the most 4th quarter points of any team by far. They CONSTANTLY kill our momentum when our offense goes on long, clock killing drives to score...

Have you been watching this year?

because every time we have a nice drive to take the lead and get momentum, our d just gives it right back. also, our d can not tackle so that always leads to extra yds that shouldnt happen.[ screen play on 3rd and 18 in the the 4th].

Because they're quarterback went untouched for 31 yards, they ran the ball effectively with a make shift offensive line and our starting lb's and safetys cant cover!
