...And yet are willing to sell the farm to get a completely unproven nfl rookie quarterback? I know there are distinct differences like the fact Matt flynn is a 7th round pick but when analysising say RGIII against Flynn, you have to see that flynn actually has 2 more starts, and has been impressive in both.. You have absoloutely no idea how RGIII will transition into the nfl, and thats why I believe signing matt flynn is actually a lot less risky..

Then you have the argument that flynn is just a very good system quarterback, but why is this a problem either? Considering the most likely scenario for flynn to come to miami is if philbin is named head coach who will implement that offensive system that flynn has been accustomed to..

Then you've got the comparisons to players like AJ feeley, however once again Flynn is not the same, he's just a free agent that can brought in to at worst compete for the starting job.. Your not risking any future draft picks to pick him up and going back to the previous argument, Flynn is going to be in a system he can excel and be comfortable in.

This combined with the fact that this will allow us to use our draft picks to address other key areas such as a pass rusher opposite wake and bringing in another recieving threat, mean I am very much on the Matt flynn bandwagon..

If he doesn't pan out, you haven't cost your team anything, we aren't going to need to trade away draft picks unless the unlikely occurence of him being franchise tagged takes place, and we'd probably be looking at a mediocre season if he wasn't our quarterback anyway.... If he does pan out, we've got our quarterback of the future, we've addressed key needs in the draft, combined with moves were likely to make in free agency such as carl nicks means that if he does actually pan out, there is no reason this team can't contend a super bowl..

Yes I understand drafting a rookie in the 1st round and picking up a 7th round pick with 2 career stats in free agency aren't the same situation but I was using it to emphasise my arguement because quite honestly, with Barkley declaring, and luck a lock for the number 1 pick, there isn't another qb in this draft im completely sold on, certainly not sold enough to trade future first round picks anyway.. So why not bring in Matt flynn? It could be a disaster but we've been stuck in mediocrity for so long, if it does pan out, I have a firm belief this team can go to a super bowl.

Flynn threw 6 TD's in a game. I'm sorry but that just doesn't happen if you're a scrub. I'm seated firmly in the Flynn bandwagon. We pass on him, and it could be Bress 2.0...

Give be Phillbin and Flynn.

Don't worry...

The blind faithers will be trumpeting up McCoy and Moore as the next best thing since sliced bread.

Which counters to you pissing and moaning about everything the Dolphins do.

i would be fine with flynn ONLY IF we go tphilbin because flynn is a system QB and would struggle in a traditional offense. Hr needs to be in a packers spread type offense to me more than an average QB.. and everyone that want a first rounder over flynn is because the first rounder have a much higher ceiling and potential than flynn does

You're right I want to be more like you. Waaaahh I don't like anything the Dolphins do

Its very simple for me. We most likely need to trade up to get RGIII (I would not) which means a trade with the Rams and at least two 1st rounders and probably a 3rd or 4th rounder plus a guaranteed controcat, completely guaranteed contract of roughly $22 million for 4 years. Flynn is a free agent, he will not get tagged that's been reported, he would probably get a 6 year deal worth around $42-$54 million with about $25-$30 million guaranteed. He won't cost us 3 picks which we need to continue to build our team and...most importantly to me...why the heck would we help Jeff Fisher and the freakin Rams get back on their feet quicker by giving them all those draft picks?

I like my draft picks, I'm down with Flynn.

I'm still skeptical about Flynn, but can't argue with a game like that. Be nice if we don't have to give up anything to get him and possible use our first round pick on Blackmon.

I think you're way off on the "If he doesn't pan out, you haven't cost your team anything" bit

Flynn is going to come with a starting QB price tag. If you consider that Kolb got over 60m (21m guaranteed) - and that was in a trade - then Flynn on the open market is going to get seriously paid. Much more expensive than Luck / RGIII and definitely a financial burden that is going to impact the team for a few years if Flynn turns out to be a system product. Oh and it would also be another season or two wasted

Why are we even talking about the 2nd coming of AJ Feeley for he isn't coming here we have one of those already he's called Matt Moore.

Basically,

If we take Flynn and he flops we are stuck with a QB for a good 5-6 years for 60-70 mill on the contract (25 guaranteed).

If we take RGIII and he flops stuck with a QB for 4 years at say, 25 mill.

Flynn is now actually the "greater risk, greater reward" QB rather than RGIII.

But yeah..... A.J. Feely anyone?

Um......

A.J. Feely anyone?

-Dolphins sign Matt Flynn- "Oh God, AJ Feely 2.0"
-Dolphins sign experienced FA QB- "Oh God Trent Green 2.0"
-Dolphins trade for experienced QB- "Oh God Daunte Culpepper 2.0"
-Dolphins draft a QB- "Oh God Pat White/John Beck/ Chad Henne 2.0"

We've pretty much run the gamete of possiblities, we need someone who recognizes a really good potential QB and get his butt in here. If our staff thinks Flynn can be great, then bring him in. We've gotten to the point where we can't shy away from candidates based on our past failures.
