Why are people so hung up on the fact Matt flynn has only had two career starts?

Tell me when AJ Feely ever threw 6 td's in a game....

I think al bundy ran for 6 in one game.

2 games is not a body of work. Even Brady throwing 6 is rare

A.) Did you just mention winning 10-11 games with Henne!?!? Did you start drinking early today?

B.) 2-3 teams every year are looking for a quarterback.

Thats right Henne/Moore

Henne was coming back strong, you forget that he never got a chance to be himself and then he got hurt. Most all agreed the WC and OC play calling really killed him from being himself! And any other coach, we win 8 games this past year. So with those additions and a new coach you can bet we will win 10-11 with Henne or Moore.

2-3 teams will need a QB but where will they be sitting?? Thats the key and if we get all the pieces in place, we can afford to move up and grab Barkley! Fill all the non Qb holes now!

...And yet are willing to sell the farm to get a completely unproven nfl rookie quarterback? I know there are distinct differences like the fact Matt flynn is a 7th round pick but when analysising say RGIII against Flynn, you have to see that flynn actually has 2 more starts, and has been impressive in both.. You have absoloutely no idea how RGIII will transition into the nfl, and thats why I believe signing matt flynn is actually a lot less risky..

Then you have the argument that flynn is just a very good system quarterback, but why is this a problem either? Considering the most likely scenario for flynn to come to miami is if philbin is named head coach who will implement that offensive system that flynn has been accustomed to..

Then you've got the comparisons to players like AJ feeley, however once again Flynn is not the same, he's just a free agent that can brought in to at worst compete for the starting job.. Your not risking any future draft picks to pick him up and going back to the previous argument, Flynn is going to be in a system he can excel and be comfortable in.

This combined with the fact that this will allow us to use our draft picks to address other key areas such as a pass rusher opposite wake and bringing in another recieving threat, mean I am very much on the Matt flynn bandwagon..

If he doesn't pan out, you haven't cost your team anything, we aren't going to need to trade away draft picks unless the unlikely occurence of him being franchise tagged takes place, and we'd probably be looking at a mediocre season if he wasn't our quarterback anyway.... If he does pan out, we've got our quarterback of the future, we've addressed key needs in the draft, combined with moves were likely to make in free agency such as carl nicks means that if he does actually pan out, there is no reason this team can't contend a super bowl..

Yes I understand drafting a rookie in the 1st round and picking up a 7th round pick with 2 career stats in free agency aren't the same situation but I was using it to emphasise my arguement because quite honestly, with Barkley declaring, and luck a lock for the number 1 pick, there isn't another qb in this draft im completely sold on, certainly not sold enough to trade future first round picks anyway.. So why not bring in Matt flynn? It could be a disaster but we've been stuck in mediocrity for so long, if it does pan out, I have a firm belief this team can go to a super bowl.

All QB's are a gamble, but after saying that if they are going to sign this guy, odds are they are going to have to throw a boat load of money at him. In the past the big issue with wasting a high draft pick on a QB, if he didn't work out, was the money, not the draft pick. The higher the draft pick, the more money you had to tie up with your cap. Basically you are asking them to do the same with this possible FA QB signing.

I have my reservations with this guy because he played against a LIONS D that obviously had serious issues with the footing on that field that day. It would be a real issue for whoever signs this guy (GM and HC) if it turned out he played so well because the D he was facing allowed most of the yards and TD's because their equipment manager was an idiot.

For me we've been down this road a few times, and it has never worked out. I'd rather take a gamble on a 2012 2nd round QB than this guy.

I am all 4 Flynn over RG3. Im not willing 2 give the farm for a player and that is what we will have 2 do 4 RG3.
Philbin + Flynn = good team we have most of the team 2gether at this time.

To add to this very valid point... Would he even come here unless he's not only getting paid big time money but also guarenteed the starting job? He's a pretty hot commodity right now and no way in hell do I see him agreeing to a contract with us if he's expected to compete for a chance to start.
I think Moore has earned the chance to compete for the job. After all, it's his job. At least it is right now.

I cant stand it when fans make comments like this. so many things are wrong here.

1.) every year a handful of teams are lookin for a QB
next year it could easily be the Seahawks, Skins, Bills, Vikings, Cardinals, Chiefs, Browns, Jets, Jags, Raiders

2.) You make it sound like we should just root for our team to lose next season so we can suck for Barkley

3.) and if thats not what youre saying then you make it sound like its so easy to just trade up to the #1 pick and draft a QB, if that were the case then why dont we do that this year for Andrew Luck? because its unrealistic!

Blakey boy, we wont even need Barkley first off, we will win with Henne/Moore and a new coach if we fill the holes. So that is really a non issue. 4 teams will draft a QB most likely within 1st 2 rounds!
If we fail miserably and need to go after barkley, I never said it would be easy. But we should be able to find a trading partner who most likely already drafted a QB this year or still wont need one. Colts, Rams, Browns????
But if we fill all the holes to a point where the only thing we need is a QB, we can afford to go All-in! Those teams that drafted a QB this year will most likely be needing to fill there non QB holes next year and looking for extra picks.

Becuase Matt Flynn reminds me of :

Scott Mitchell (under Dan Marino, became trade bait and went to Detroit to start. Was garbage)
Matt Cassell (under Tom Brady, became trade bait, went to KC to start... garbage)

etc......

I know he will be expensive... But if he doesn't pan out, we could always try Barkley next year. Flynn has been very impressive in his starts, and I wouldn't mind getting him. It seeems better than trading our whole draft for RG3...

Flynn is like that homely girl born into an ugly family (LSU QBs) who, until circumstances threw you together, you'd never look twice at. But wouldn't you know it, much to your surprise you have the two absolutely best dates of your life - although granted in a very romantic conducive setting and under the most flattering lighting.

The dates are terrific, impressive, memorable there's no denying, but they're still only 2 dates and you know nothing else about her beyond those 6 hours you spent together, that if you hadn't hooked up, she'd never have caught your eye, and that there's still a chance she could turn ugly like how her sisters, Rohana and JaMarcussa turned out.

Under those circumstances, would you propose marriage to someone like that based on a limited but wonderful personal experience? Would you dig deep into your pockets to to seal this commitment with the equivalent of a huge diamond engagement ring? I think not if your big head is doing the thinking.

The only way I'd feel comfortable with Flynn who for all intents and purposes is a basically unknown 7th round 2-trick pony in the tradition of Kolb, Scott Mitchell, AJ Feeley and many more, is if someone who knows him very well, like Philbin is hired as our HC and expresses a strong desire desire to bring him onboard.

Ssshhhhhhh! Don't tell junc... His head might explode and he'll hijack yet another thread with his "Sanchez is top 10" rhetoric.

To the OP:

I like your idea of going after Flynn and using our first round pick on a position of need. Hopefully they also draft a qb after the first round as I believe there are plenty of QB's with NFL potential available such as Nick Foles, Brandon Weeden, Case Keenum, Russell Wilson etc.

GO PHINS~!
