Why are we ahead of the Chiefs? I thought the first tie breaker was head to head games? I am not complaining just curious.

There are like 6 teams stuck at 7-5 and not all of them have played each other. Thus, head to head tiebreakers do not apply. Instead, it's based on conference record, and we have the best conference record.

When a bunch of teams are tied with the same record, the tie-breaker reverts to conference record.

Only us and pittsburgh have highest 6-3 conference records. But since the first tie breaker in "3 or more teams tied for Wild Card" is to revert back to division tiebreaker. and pitt is behind the ravens in their division it gives us the higher seed. Oddly if us and the steelers both win it will put them ahead of the ravens since they will then have a better overall record than the ravens. So they will move up into a rule #3 tie with us.

At that point we would be tied with pitt and have to go to the next tiebreaker, which is rule#4 "best winning % in common games, (min of 4)". We play the jets, jets, chiefs, Jags and ravens. They play the jets, chiefs, jags, ravens and ravens. We would win tiebreaker #4 (although that wouldn't put us ahead now because we have not played them all yet). Next would be rule #5, which is strength of victory. As of right now they are leading this one by a 35-34 count. The teams they have beaten have won 35 games to our 34. If we beat the Ravens and they beat the Bengals they will be leading by a count of 43-41.

So as it stands right now if we win and the steelers win we will drop out of the 6th seed. But it is not the end of the world because once they play the chiefs, win or lose that will be another common game and we will go back to rule #4 which we will win by beating the ravens jets jags and losing to the chiefs (3-1). Pitt beat the ravens and jags and lost to the ravens and jets (2-2), so we would move back in front.

Not sure if they count teams you play twice as one or two. We play the jets, jets, chiefs, and ravens. They play the jets, chiefs ravens and ravens. That is 4 games a piece but only 3 teams, if that counts we would win tiebreaker #4 (although that wouldn't put us ahead now because we have not played them all yet). Next would be rule #5, which is strength of victory. Not sure exactly how that works and I have a lot of home work to do so I had better not waste any more time. Hope some of this helps.
I'm thinking Miami is in good shape there with all the double-digit wins

In a 3 way tie it goes by conference record

Dolphins: 6-3
Chiefs: 5-4
Ravens: 3-5
