Why are we whining over a QB who signed for peanuts to compete with T. Jackson, why?

I am much more concerned about dodging the bullet of watching Matt Moore try to QB this team with Davone Bess & Brian Hartline as his top targets. Signing a guy like Flynn (or even Alex Smith) would allow the Dolphins to shoot for a top WR in the draft. Without signing Flynn or Alex Smith, an idiot like Ireland might reach for Tannehill, or even trade up for him. And that would be the biggest disaster of all.

I agree that reaching for Tannehill ( or even trading up fir him , shudder) would be incredibly stupid but you can't pay a player that you project as a backup "starting" money. They tried to get Flynn cheap but he went where he has a better chance to start, Moore is better than Jackson. It would've been a tough battle between them but we'll never get to find out. It was just too costly for the Dolphins in their estimation. I would've tried harder but it's not my team.

Lets play a game. The best QB Ireland ever drafted for the Dolphins was? Right now I cant think of anyone.

The best QB he ever drafted in Dallas was ummmm... Romo? Wait Romo was an undrafted FA who they were lucky enough to come to their camp. I dont see a great history of drafting a good QB. See Henne. See Dallas. See whatever.

We are like the guy at the bar again, alone again on Friday night. We have not score in a couple of years. We got a fleeting smile from a Cougar so we sent her a drink and she is now sitting with a couple of other guys. There was a decent looking younger chick that was talking to us but she left with someone else. We just had a drink with someone that we are pretty sure is just using us to make her boyfriend jealous. So now we are starting to hit on a older ugly woman and feeling like even if we take her home it will suck.

As Dolphin fans, we have a massive set of Blue Balls.
that was amazing. Props for this

He's not competing with Tarvaris. Come the **** on. Carroll might even suggest there's some sort of competition as is required by the laws of coachspeak, but come opening day it's going to be Flynn getting every opportunity.

Now you know the "real" reason he went to Seattle, you just solved the case. If he comes here, for whatever price, do you really think our coaching staff wouldn't give Moore a legitimate chance to compete. Moore has earned that right, want to talk about losing the team? On the other hand in Seattle everyone knows he sucks, so guess where Flynn, who wants to start, is going to go? Sounds predictable.

yes he did/does. but somehow we were still interested. more confusing still or quite clarifying really.

Honestly, I'm starting to think a lot of the discussions we had with those players were just to placate the rabid fan base...

carrolls not stupid enough to make flynn compete with tavaris jackson...and the contract indicates that its not being viewed as a comp

Funny too we spent alsmot the same money on richard friggin Marshall to play s, I thought we drafted such good acorns there I guess not .
Also funny is we signed Artis Hicks and loyd murtha to contracts combined basically 4 million which is a million and a half short of an actual good T price in KC.
Hell we signed Richard Marshall for price of Winston and which position was more needed.

Hoos. Where do you stand on acquiring Alex smith?

ehhh...right now it looks like the run away best option to me...but the problem is here i seriously doubt he's gonna put pen to paper with us for less than or even $10 mil guaranteed...i seriously doubt it...smiths play did pick up in 2011...no doubt...and he made some onion plays in the clutch against the saints to pull out the win...but he's one of those guys you better surround with a ton of talent and a legit top level d and running game

the problem here is he's expecting legit money and a longer term commitment...and he smells like a guy that ireland would sit on for 3 years no matter how he fares...do i think he's good enough to get us over the hump though...ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Flynn signed for barely starting money to go fight for a job with Tavaris freaking Jackson and we are spilling our guts cause we missed out on this "franchise" QB? Really? You guys amaze me. The league obviously didn't see this guy even in Kolb's or Cassels' sratoshpere. Flynn can't even carry their jockstraps.

Again, why are you guys freaking out over a QB who signed for 8 mil a year and only 10 mil signing bonus, that should tell you right there what Seattle really thinks of Flynn.

Yeah I was hopefull yesterday but now I came to earth and I say we are ****ed... We signed Marshall.... We traded Marshall and lost Langford. Two key players are gone and what did we really add??? I like the Marshall signing but come on lets be serious this FO sucks ***

let me put it to you this way harry...i don't think bill belichick is sweating alex smith in his division...to me it looks like we are royally screwed here...and if these guys do bring in a david garrard or matt hasselbeck should he be let go they're doing nothing but wasting damn time...

the saddest part is, most of the people who were clamoring for Flynn probably never even watched the tape on him...

The guy looked slow, not athletic at all, and weak armed...

he reminded me a LOT of matt moore. decent accuracy, good touch, but bad arm strength and very bad mobility.

Our coaching staff was at least smart enough to realize that Moore > Flynn all things considered.

What "tape"? You mean the TV feed?

Seriously, stop with the "watch tape/film" on a player. Unless you're with an NFL team, NFL Network, or NFL Matchup, you're not getting anything that any other fan can't get. And there's simply little knowledge to gain from it besides statistical - even for "skill" players, on which the camera is usually on.

Tell me, what plays were called (on both O and D) in *any* of Flynn's games played? Hell, I'd be satifisfied with one. Use whatever terminology you like; just make sure to justifiy it with video. I'll save you some time: there's no way to tell, because you can't make out the routes of every receiver (sometimes, not even of one) and it goes double for the D. Hard to make out the blocking assignments without an endzone look, too. And I'll make the relevance of my question clear: it's hard to criticize a QB for a "bad pass" without knowing the backstory.

FWIW, I didn't like the idea of signing Flynn to a blockbuster deal. But to use the "tape" argument... I just think it's weak.
