While the numbers will be flashier for the players listed above, Cameron Wake’s comeback from a torn Achilles at age 34, in less than a year, deserves recognition. His performance isn’t just impressive for someone of his age coming off of an injury – any defensive end in the NFL would be happy to be having the season Wake is.

At the end of the day, Cameron Wake would be too modest to entertain the thought of the award. If you told me he genuinely hadn’t thought of it, I’d believe you. While he would be worthy of the honor, and has to this point built a case that surpasses that of any other player, there is a greater prize that Cam Wake has his eye on.

If the Dolphins make the playoffs, granting their star defensive end his first postseason appearance, it will be the only thing that Wake needs out of 2016.

Even if he isn’t Comeback Player of the Year, those who follow the Dolphins know that Wake not only deserves to win that award, but also has done everything a player could do to earn themselves a place on one of the game’s biggest stages.

He could very well win this award. But I want to see him play in a playoff game more than any award.

The Dolphins don't deserve Wake. Let's just hope we can get him the postseason appearances he deserves. The man is a champion through and through.

Certainly deserving. Kudos to the organization for having faith in him and offering an extension as well. I'm still offended he started the year coming off the bench injury or not. You don't let someone with his motor sit on the sidelines. And not one time did he whine or complain about it. He just let his play do the talking and vaulted back into the starting lineup. He is the gold standard in terms of professionalism in a league full of prima donnas. Its been an honor watching him play over the years and I have a feeling he has more good years left in him!

And that is why he is essential to this team showing the young players to listen to the coaches and keep working until you are the best at your position. And then you will play and get paid too.. It seems to be the new attitude on this team but it's always been for players like wake and Landry. I believe it's starting to rub off and working for guys such as ajayi, Phillips, branch, Alonso. That can become a dangerous team if they keep it up.

A while back I wanted dolphins to trade wake just to see him play on a contender but I'm glad I'm not the Gm and hopefully we can wake into the show as a dolpain. Young players often rally around getting the old guy one more shot. You see it lots in hockey and it's worKing in Florida with Jagr and the panthers.
