Or even Frerotte for that matter..

IMO, the success of our QB will be directly predicated by the state of the OL.. If it is decent, I dont see why Feeley couldnt do the caretaker role that worked well for inexperience Big Ben in Pitt.. I saw an interview with Big Ben earlier on ESPN, and he even said his role was to "steer the ship", which meant for the most part feeding the machine that was the Steeler running game.. Why can't Feeley do that? Feed the two headed running machine that is R & R!

Feeley did a decent job as caretaker in a good system in Philly for 5 games.. If they can emphasize him not making costly decisions, I think he is good enough to hand the ball off, and hit one of our receivers deep on occasion..

Ben was a rookie, and a very talented rookie at that. These guys are journeymen and not very talented journeymen at that.

Remember what our own Jay Fiedler did during Wanny's first year here with a good running game? 11-5.. that was JAY FIEDLER..

I think both Gus and Feeley are more talented than Jay.. Jay played his heart out, but he was prone to bad mistakes and not being able to throw more than 5 yards in a stiff wind..

And btw, Ben never really did anything awe-inspiring last season.. The only thing awe-inspiring was his record, which was mostly because of his superior supporting cast.

Not the same talent!!!!
Exatcly, but if the line does have any kind of play that doesn't resemble subway turnstiles I think Feely will be much improved.

You kind of answered your own question...Ben had a supporting cast, which allowed him to be his best at what he knew at this stage of his carreer. If our supporting cast gives our QB's the same support, then you should see a difference.

Agreed. Roethlisberger is a case of a QB getting TOO much credit. He didn't exactly carry Pitt. He didn't make a lot of mistakes, but he didn't make alot of big plays either. He and Pitt will drop a little closer to earth this year.

If anything Ben kind of regressed the last few games of the season. You're right with the play of the Steelers RBs, WRs, and O-line Ben was set up to succeed. I mean a marginal at best QB in Maddox took the Steelers to the playoffs with pretty much the same cast.

Ben played pretty much mistake free football last year... If feeley does the same, then we will be in good shape...
