He has yet to have a COMPLETE MELTDOWN game like Sage, AJ, Brian Griese, Ray Lucas, and Damon Huard have all had..

He has been a steadying force, even if his stats have been less that sparkling.. And, as much as you all would like not to believe it, he has outplayed our starter THIS YEAR. Yes, this is likely due to injury, but you cannot present a solid case that Daunte was more effective this year.

You all need to realize what Joey is, how he has helped this team during a key injury, and appreciate him for the job he has done rather than try to tear down the guy at every turn..

In my opinion, alot of this invective conversation is mostly reactionary..

I thought Brian Griese and Damon Huard were much better than you picture them. Huard led us to a 5-1 record before Wanny-Jay came along. And what he did for KC, you know the rest. Griese may have suffered from a total lack of protection from Wade Smith and bad coaching from Wanny because he sure fared well with Tampa.

Joey is a great backup and possibly (if Daunte can't recover and can't learn to avoid sacks and turnovers) our starter for the next 2 years while we strengthen other positions. Thing is, he's young, has talent, and still can improve which he has already.

Well said! Harrington is doing great all things considered. I think the biggest problem is as you stated he has outplayed Daunte Culpepper and there is a Culpepper fanclub that feels threatened anytime someone points that out. They seem to gather some false sense of security out of berating Harrington. It used to get to me but now I just find the humor in it, everyone needs to learn to recognize it for what it is because it becomes much easier to laugh about it once you do!

Admittedly, I dont remember much of Huard, but I vaguely remember him having a rather poor outing once..

Griese was severely innefective in the Washington game where he got replaced by Fiedler.. It was rather sad that FIEDLER sparked the victory..

And all of the rest had what you could term as COLLOSSAL MELTDOWNS.. I will always remember the Lucas Bowl (1st start against the Bills)...

Ehhh ok. I'm happy with Joey as our backup. He's done a great job as the backup. People are going overboard on his play though. He hasnt had a game to match Sage against the Bills and I am a HUGE Griese fan. I will always wish we stuck with him even a fraction of how we stuck with Fiedler.

Oh, he is a great backup QB... and is doing a solid job filling in...

My main arguements are when people talk about him as our QB of the future... and that he should remain our starter...

He is a great backup... but he isnt a #1 QB...

Well, one game out of the blue when Fiedler was injured was pretty bad. But subbing for Marino, Huard consistently did pretty well.

Griese was ineffective though still throwing for a TD mainly because of just horrendous protection. D-Mac with that line would've made quite a difference. Most QB's would've done poorly under that line save for those who can run out of the pocket to throw mostly incomplete passes.

But for the rest, I totally agree with you.

Yea, you do have to wonder what might have happened had we kept Huard. He played very well for KC but he did have a meltdown when he came to play us, who knows how he would have ended up if he continued to play the rest of the year?

Because Joey haters don't really exist. It is just a name given to people who don't agree that Joey is the second coming of jesus. If you don't just fall in love with a player you are automatically labeled a hater.

:yeahthat: I like the guy, just not as the QB of the future.

well said man.
I don't have problems at all with joey as our backup. He's doing a good job. But to think he's the guy that will take us to the promise land..well.....I hope he proves me wrong.

too many pics. Other than that he has been a great backup QB for us.
