This notion has been brow-beaten into us all offseason. I want to know what it is particularly bout Bush that makes him incapable of being a featured back? His injury history? Size? Im looking at Ray Rice in Baltimore, and Bush is bigger than him.

So what's the deal? Is this a myth?

Injury history is what everyone thinks is holding him back. So far it's proven to be true.

Injuries. That's pretty much why. Same reason why you couldn't count on Ronnie Brown for 20+ carries a game. I would love to have Reggie prove everybody wrong, especially given how hard he's worked this offseason.

Would be great to see Bush start to resemble a Warrick Dunn when running between the tackles combined with the afterburners he has when taking it to the outside or YAC potential in the short pass game.

Injuries have slowed him down if he was to stay healthy it's possible he could be.

Havent you heard? Reggie bush sucks. The fins also suck. Just ask any media outlet......

I agree is Bush is injury prone these past 4 years then the odds are not good he will make it through a entire season as a featured back. If Sporano is counting on this then I am really worried especially at a position that we are so thin at. Currenrly right now I see a huge load resting on Hillards back right now and that is a bit scary with the right side of the offensive line being what it is. What have we seen of Daniel Thomas and Clay that gives you confidence that they can carry the load of the running game on top of being IR right now. Putting your hope in Larry Johnson? How many running backs who have been out for 2-3 years outside of Ricky Williams can come back and carry the load. Tomorrow night here is our running back line up Bush and Larry Joshson at tail back and Lex Hillard at fullback with very quesitonable right side offensive line. So with are real depth at wide reciever we might better be ready more of a west coast offense, not depend on the running game to protect the lead and hope the defense can hold up its end.

It's b/c it hasn't happened yet. That's the only legitimate (in their minds) reason as to why Bush can't do it. The same applies for season predictions. The same teams get picked based on what they did the year previous. It's difficult to say what will happen with a player where you haven't seen them in a certain situation but it doesn't mean he can't do it anyway.

To dismiss the possibility that Bush can be a full-time isn't fair

There are times when a running back has to take whatever few yards are available to try to avoid a loss of yardage. Unless you're Barry Sanders, and Reggie Bush is not, you don't have the ability to turn a play that offers little yardage into a big gainer. On those plays you have to run as the play was designed, bust it up through there, and hopefully fall forward so that you gain a yard or two.

Watch and see tomorrow night whether Reggie Bush can do this, or if he tries to turn those plays into big gainers and ends up losing yards on them. If he does the latter, he won't be running like a featured back.

Now that may not be what Dolphins fans want to hear, but that is an answer to the question.

Looking at his college film. Reggie running the stretch play was deadly.

See NFL career of Reggie Bush and do the math.
There are always anomalies, but odds of him suddenly becoming a feature back.... not good.

Weren't most his injuries on returns? Have never looked into it but thought I read it on here.

Ted Ginn was pretty deadly in college too. Just sayin'...

I agree though, no reason why Bush can't, but he does have an all-out style that makes him susceptible to injuries. I know I wasn't the only one holding my breath when he debuted in the Carolina preseason game.
