Hello everydolfans !

simple question, here vernon seems become a very good RT now and a solid insurance policy at LT if long is injured, so.........why our FO haven't resigned him ?

too much money request by his agent, or does FO think a better, or cheaper and younger solution could be found in FA or draft next offseason ?

opinions ;)

IMO there is no such thing as too much money concerning resigning Carey. Give him what he wants and lock him up. He has been consistently solid for 2-3 years and should only get better with his home at RT.. I absolutely do not see us letting him go.

Because it's in the season and they want him to focus on football, not contract negotiations with his agent.

I'am for resign too, I'am just afraid that the more and more the FA come, the more carey could be interested in other bigger offer.

We can always franchise him if he does not agree to terms, correct?

IMO, resign 'em, he has done what he was asked, switched positions, played consistent, but wait to resign him not just yet....let him focus on football like someone else mentioned

yep, always. I think we may get a hometown discount.

When you franchise a player, the player gets an average of the top 5 players at his position no discount or anything. And if im not mistaken Long is the highest paid Lineman in the league i think, so im sure they dont want to have 2 of the highest paid lineman in the league on the same line. I dont know im probably wrong but Parcells cuts costs whenever he thinks he can get the same output for a lesser price, just look at Feely.

Want my opinion too bad that was rhetorical you get anyway ha. I really think Bill didn’t want to lock up money on a player that wasn’t proven in his eyes. I think now that ¼ of the way through the season Bill will figure out how to lock this guy up for along time. For the first time in what seems like forever Miami is not cap strapped.

Maybe because Carey is 350lb's, bigger than Parcells likes and might be waiting to see if he going to get with the program and loose some weight. Somebody recently posted on this ... maybe Hugo or Nublar, and had a nice explanation of what might be the holdup.

Either him or Ronnie is about to get Franchised.

I believe Mandy's blog touched o this subject.
If I can summarize; Carey is overweight(per the Tuna + staff), zero chance of hometown discount(Eric Winston deals apparently set the floor), and RT are replaceable.

While Carey is really good, he's not great. He may be pricing himself out of an extension. The FO may let him test FA to set his price. If it's reasonable, the Fish will match, otherwise, they let him walk. This would be typical Parcells.
