Except for a few things, I have liked what this adminstraion has done so far except bringing in Carter. I know McCown was only brought in to hold down the fort till Henne gets ready to start, and that this coaching staff doesn't want Beck. Why bring in Quincy Carter though? This guy can not cut in this league. He was inconsistent at best at Georgia. In 3 years with the Cowboys he had 32 TD's and 37 int's. There is a reason he hasn't been in the NFL in 4 years.

The Bucs are wanting to trade Chris Simms away. I don't know why we can't make a move for him. He is better than McCown, way better than Quincy, and also has greater potential. I know his stats aren't the best either, but he led the Bucs to an nfc south win in 05, and played through a ruptured spleen a couple years ago.

I totally agree. I was wondering this same exact thing. Bucs will pretty much take any thing available so I say give them the 2010 pick we got from the skins or some late round pick in 09. Simms has more experience than ALL the qbs on the roster. I say go for it!

Well honestly, I rather take a chance at Simms over Carter and over Pennington if he becomes available.

If Carter is truely signed as a QB, we're in trouble and wouldn't be suprised if some crazed nut job Tonya Harding him before he took the field. He has to be a smoke screen to get the other QB's to live up to the staff's expectations for the up coming season.

I agree... I think that Simms have a more legitimate shot at making the Dolphins team rather than Carter.. It seems like a waste of time, if you ask me....

He can't be a smoke screen. Heck, I'm not afraid of Carter taking my local garbagemen out during a QB tryout, let alone anyone in the NFL.

Why?

It's obvious why, the familiarity that Carter has with Parcells and his gang who seemingly have all transferred over from Dallas to Miami.

First of all, QCar had a workout, he has not been signed.

Secondly, because Carter is a cheap free agent with Parcells ties and Simms will cost draft picks and more $$. You can't even work him out without making a trade.

What ties? Parcells cut him. They didn't think he was worth all the trouble, and he wasn't worth it. The Bucs are asking for a 4th round pick in 09 that's it (we could bargin it down to maybe a 5th) and he will not be making that much money.

He's played for Parcells, that's a tie. I didn't say it was a close or tight one.

You are still talking about spending a 5th rounder to work a guy out, that's ridiculous. You can't borrow Simms for a day to work him out before you decide if he's worth trading for.

Again, Carter has not been signed, he just had a work out.

I'm not saying they should trade a 5th rounder just to work him out. I'm saying they should trade a 5th rounder so he can start. Simms would make the team if they traded for him. The Cowboys already want him to back up Romo. The Bucs are just asking for too much. He's a good QB, but him and Gruden are not getting along but a lot of players don't get along with Gruden.

Let me be clear. I think Quincy sucks and am 100% against him being on the Dolphins roster. IF the three headed monster decides they need a new starter at QB, I'm not against trading a low round pick for Simms. All that being said, Quincy was not signed to be a starter, he was brought in for a free look. Something that you can't do with Simms.

So when and if Quincy is signed and makes the opening day roster, I will agree with you. Until then, it's a moot point because the FO isn't acquiring starting quarterbacks right now.
