He's a tweener... with a great motor...

One great year backed by...?

J.Long, S.Ellis, Dorsey, Glholsten to name a few reasons

And a great motor is a bad thing? Tweeners are useful when you run a 3-4 defense, so that should not be viewed as a problem. He can play linebacker on running downs, and end in passing situations. Add in his leadership and pedigree and it makes plenty of sense. I still think I would prefer Jake Long, but Chris Long definitely makes a lot of sense as well.

whats a tweener again? as in the REAL word cuz isnt it like 2 words put into one? something like a guy that doesnt have a set position but needs to be figured out right?

anyways ya the team said they dont look at ppl with 1 year wonder situations goin on and long did have that last year as oppose to others available at the spot. shoot long has been doin it for 4 yrs of consistency as in Jake. thats a big factor

I'm a big J.Long supporter but I think if our situation was different with our Oline C.Long would make alot of sense. In my opinion I think he'll make a great leader and whether he makes probowls or not I'm sure he'll be in the conversation each year.

But J.Long is a awesome LT prospect and we happen to have his reservation waiting for him. We'll be a better team with either Long in our line up.

I have to be fair to C.Long.. Great motors are a good thing... Remember it was M.Roths one invincible..., M.Roth is a tweener like player as well because he is too small for NT but not athletic and long enough for DE... Still a good guy to have on one's team but..., J.Long gets it done game and game out and that one cannot ignore at no.1...

The lesser the time, the more value a tenth of a second has. 1/10 is 10%, 1/20 is 5%, the 1 is still the same, but it's value diminishes as the denominator increases. The 10 and 20 yard dashes are prime examples, because they're such small numbers to begin with. A .06 second of a difference in the 20 yard dash is probably the equivalent to .10 of a second in the 40 yard dash. A .04 second of a difference in the 10 yard dash is the equivalent to atleast a .10 of a second in the 40 yard dash etc.

After pouring through all the data, I'm not sure how any competent person can claim that Chris Long is a "tweener", or that he isn't that athletic enough to play OLB, let alone DE. Comparing Chris Long's athleticism to that of Roth's, is probably the biggest insult, and it couldn't be farther from the truth.

Comparing Chris Long's athleticism to that of Roth's, is probably the biggest insult, and it couldn't be farther from the truth.

Great work on the numbers... but what is missing that he is... is a tweener that's it... Great motor so does M. Roth... That's just an observation...

This has nothing to do with tackiling, abilty to locate the ball... deflect passes or knock down or hold up TEs off the line of scrimmage...

Chris may..., may be great at all those ythings... Time will tell... I guess this is a new position OLB... Will you concede mr.competent...

Examine the player and ask the fair question where is he going to play...

Do we simply overlook the fact that he felt compelled to work out without a T shirt on..., why...? Perhaps he knows he is a tweener....

Please don't put words in my mouth I never said he wasn't athletic..., he most certainly is and worthy of a top pick... J.Long is most logical is all...

the others I listed are about as worthy in this day and age you pick your poison... and you should be accountable...

He's a tweener... with a great motor...

One great year backed by...?

J.Long, S.Ellis, Dorsey, Glholsten to name a few reasons

Your right, he did have a good year this year. If you look at his last 3 years however, he had something like 50 QB hurries and something like 100 tackles. Not exactly bad considering he was playing the 3-4 end which typically dont get to the QB.

Going over the linebackers I could find since 2002, here's how their combines compared to Long's. I've added some defensive ends to the list that have played a 3-4 defense in the NFL. All these players were 1st round picks....

Wow great info... what he showed on tape with that great burst is verified in those stats. For his size it's amazing, I still hope we end up with him.

oregon, appalachain state, notre dame, northwestern, eastern michigan, illinois, and minnesota all have great pass rushers?

the one-year wonder thing is a cause for concern

that is probably why he isnt #1
