Why Culpepper?

Somebody please explain to me why we would spend to much time and effort on a player that will not be ready (or so I heard) until the middle of next season? Granted....Culpepper is a upgrade over Gus when healthy...but we don't even know if he will recover from the ACL, MCL and whatever else "CL".

Basically, if Culpepper was/is healthy...I am on board...however, there are too many things that could go wrong.

At least Bree's is projected to be ready at the beginning of the season....

Actually, uhhh, the timeframe for Culpepper and Brees injuries are about the same. I've heard anything from they'll both be ready for camp to they could both miss '06, at either extreme.

Culpepper is reportedly cleared to run, at this point.

Not to mention Culpepper's injury is to his knee, which is slightly less important to a quarterback then his throwing arm.

i havent heard that we have been trying to get culpepper as of late....it seems as if we are totally focused on brees acorrding to the other posts.
