why did Flynn slide to the 7th round?

Funny that everyone thinks that guys who come off the bench are damaged goods - comical
Some people think a QB is just going to fall out of the air or that Matt Moore is suddenly going to overcome his accuracy issues and pick up some pocket presence.

Matt Flynn slide to the 7th round because talent evaluation in not an exact science. The Packers selected Brian Brohm in the 2nd round in the same year they selected Matt and Flynn beat Brohm out for the backup spot during training camp.

Many players, for whatever reason, turn out to be better pro players than college players.

im not nieve...to think Flynn is the next Tom Brady or he's even better then what we already have in Matt Moore....who really knows. You just have to take a chance and live with it and hope things turn out for the best for all dolphin fans.

Weeden has a effin cannon. Even if we get 6-7 seasons out of him we should. Its not like the days of old where draft picks get paid jamarcus russel money.

One was he didn't really play until his senior year and I really don't remember him being anything special in college. I mean, I remember a lot of people saying the only reason he started his senior year was because Ryan Perrilloux got suspended.

Of course, I also think people forget how good JaMarcus Russell was especially during his junior season. Dude could put the ball wherever he wanted with the flick of his wrist.

Im not sure why everyone puts so much more emphasis on cannon arms rather than football IQ. It may not be as sexy throwing 10 yard passes over 50 yard bombs for TD's but if we keep the chains moving and score eventually while taking time off the clock and utilizing solid defense, isnt that just as good if not better?

Fair point as really outside of the 2007 year with Moss, the Pats have made a living with the dink and dunk passes. Hell most of their big passes this year came from YAC on quick passes. At the same time though, Brady CAN throw deep, and you need that threat of being able to go deep.

ive just seen way too many cannon arms fail in this league: Jamarcus Russell, Leinart, Akili Smith, etc

Leinart was not a cannon. In fact, I remember people saying during his senior year how weak his arm looked on film.

I thought Flynn was 6-2?

Flynn 6-2 225
Brees 6-0 207
Brady 6-4 225
Rodgers 6-2 225

He's pretty much right in line with a prototypical QB these days. When I say good size, it's good that he's not too short, nor too tall that he is clumsy. 6-2 225 is a very good size for a QB. Maybe 6-4 would give him better view over the top....just sayin....
