Linebacker is a major weakness for us, especially if Saban plans to use some 3-4 formations. Zach is getting older, and getting injured more often. Seau is at the end of the line. He guesses a lot and gets caught of position a lot. Eddie Moore and Derrick Pope don't look like anything more than special teams players.

Zach Thomas and his Hefty contract isnt even close to Ray Lewis contract and Zach has never killed anyone

Saban knows a lot about these players from scouting/playing against them in college. I think he is doing great and hopefully we pick a QB with the 4th rounder today..

Well one reason is the defense as a whole is getting old, and it does free possibilities for a trade or if someone gets hurts, this was a great move by nick.
